"Dokja-ssi, something is strange. It says the 'broken bridge' but the bridge is still..."
"Isn't it obvious?! Hurry up and run!" Kim Namwoon yelled.
It hadn't broken yet since they had managed to leave 3 minutes early, but that didn't mean they were safe.
Sprinting across the bridge, the group was soon able to see the Ichthyosaur making its way towards them. It was the same sea commander from the novel.
As it continued to grow closer and closer with each passing second, the sea commander was soon chewing on the legs of the bridge.
"The bridge is breaking!"
"Run! If we run then we can cross it!"
With only 200 meters left before they reach the next station, the group would have made it if not for Bihyung.
[There is no fun if the game is too easy.]
[The scenario difficulty has been adjusted.]
[Scenario difficulty: E -> D]
The sound of the dokkaebi's laughter was heard.
[Is there any fun if you just run away? Let's create a bit of atmosphere!]
'Atmosphere my ass! You just want to watch us suffer!'
Cale was struggling. Without his ancient powers to use, he was having trouble breathing since he'd never ran anywhere outside of gym class a̶n̶d̶ e̶v̶e̶n̶ t̶h̶e̶n̶ h̶e̶'d̶ u̶s̶u̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ s̶c̶a̶m̶ h̶i̶s̶ w̶a̶y̶ o̶u̶t̶ o̶f̶ i̶t̶.
[The thoughts of the dead have returned.]
[The surrounding earth is filled with black ether.]
[The demonic people have woken up!]
"Z-Zombies?!" As the corpses of people who had died began to flood the bridge, Kim Dokja saw the approaching Ichthyosaur.
"...Everybody get down."
They were too late.
Kwaaaaang!
Dust scattered throughout the air as the once barely stable bridge fell with a splash into the raging waters below. Once visible, the corpses of demonic people the ichthyosaur had bitten through could be seen with only a large chasm in the bridge before them.
Checking to make sure everyone was alright, Cale was able to see that the only ones to cross were Lee Hyunsung and Lee Gilyoung. Despite having the physical ability to cross at the time, the three older teens were still beside him so that they could protect their dongsaeng (not that Cale realized it).
'It should be happening soon.' Cale knew about the even bridge, that's why he didn't worry about making it across. While it would have been great if they had made it across in time, at least now he could make sure Kim Dokja was left stranded so he could meet that regressor guy.
[You have received the favor of a Constellation.]
'Huh?'
[The constellation's scenario 'Deus Ex Machina' has been activated.]
[Deus Ex Machina - Even Bridge
Description: A bridge of light made by a constellation. Only an 'even' number of people can cross the bridge. The bridge will disappear as soon as an 'odd' number of people try to cross it.]
[Constellation 'Secretive Plotter' tells you to hurry and cross.]
'Wait, isn't it supposed to be Yoo Sangah who receives help?' Unlike the novel, this time it was Cale who received the Deus Ex Machina and from Secretive Plotter no less!
