"N-no..."

You rolled over onto your back, slowly tuning into the sound of murmuring.

"No... please..."

You looked over at Alastor, who seemed to be asleep still, yet distressed in his current state. His upturned brows knit closely together as he shook his head left to right as if to say 'no.' You felt bad, as you leaned up to get a better look at him you could see how scared he seemed to be. You reached for him and gently nudged his shoulder, trying to coax him into waking up.

"Alastor?" You whispered. He turned his head to the side, refusing to wake right away. Seemingly still lost somewhere in his dreams as a few stray tears fell from his closed eyes. You tried again, nudging him a tiny bit harder. "Alastor. Wake up."

"Nnghh- huh? What??" He murmured with a sense of panic. Sitting upright and frantically looking around your bedroom. Still coming out of that dream state and slowly adjusting to waking reality. Eventually his gaze landed on you, and immediately you could read the fear in his eyes. He placed a trembling hand on your leg, squeezing it softly as he panted and looked around the room again. Trying to ground himself and calm down a little.

"It's okay hun." You whispered gently, placing your hand on top of his. "Looked like you were having a bad dream. Are you alright?"

"I..." he stammered. Looking back over at you with a sense of bittersweet relief. You could see the sadness he felt swelling beneath the surface. His ears drooping and his smile still not present on his face, it made your heart crack like thin glass to see him so distressed. His eyes gave off a pale, dim glow; allowing you to see his features easier in the dark of your room. Those piercing red orbs were glossy as they continued tearing up, his lower lip beginning to quiver.

"No..." he admitted. "I'm not..."

"Come here..." you said softly, laying down on your back. Immediately Alastor clung to you. Laying his head on your chest and hugging you close, nestling into you as you wrapped your arms around him. You kissed the top of his head and scratched his scalp, consoling him as you felt him cry into you. "Shhh," you cooed gently. "It's okay."

"I'm unlovable..." he murmured between little sobs.

"What?" You asked, resting your cheek against his head and holding him in your arms. "Alastor, you're not unlovable... What happened, hun? What'd you dream about?"

He couldn't answer right away. Sobs continued wracking his frame as he shook from emotion, trying to steady his breathing but finding trouble in doing so. You stayed patient with him. Holding him and letting him get it out of his system. He would tell you when he was ready, you weren't about to rush him.
