"I'm at an impasse."
Alastor laid on the daybed in his parlor room, his hands politely clasped over his stomach as he stared up at the ceiling.
"It's not that I feel I am incapable of telling her who I really am here," he continued, his facial expressions conveyed every thought as he spoke aloud. "However our relationship has grown so deep, I fear that I may have waited too long. If I say something now, she'll resent me for sure. But if I never tell her, and she finds out on her own... Well, same result..."
His shadow sat in a large armchair across the room from him, nodding before jotting down a few notes in a notebook. He then looked back over at his master, waiting for Al to turn his head in it's direction before signing.
"You do realize she'll likely resent you completely if she finds out on her own?" He asked. "Yes she'll be upset regardless, but she'll likely appreciate your honesty."
"But what if she doesn't stop being upset?" Alastor asked. "What if she resents me anyway?"
"Do you think she would?"
The demon looked back up at the ceiling and pondered for a moment. Weighing the possibility as he gauged your tendencies and temperament. He knew you were a sweetheart at the core, he knew you genuinely cared and he believes that you love him in return. However on the other hand, he had taken into consideration that you were still a person who had gone through something traumatic and had dealt with a lot of heartache; who knows how you'd take a bomb like that being dropped on you.
"Well what am I supposed to say?" He asked rhetorically. "'You should probably know that in life I was a serial killer and a cannibal. I'm also one of the deadliest beings in the Pride Ring and high up in the Hell hierarchy! Oh, by the way, you have maybe a year to live and then you're mine forever.' Yes, that should go over very well."
The shadow sighed heavily before setting the notebook down onto it's lap, and took off it's manacle as it looked back at the stag. "She might not be thrilled, but it beats the alternative. Not to mention if you don't tell her it'll only seem suspicious. She might think you were hiding more than you actually are." He signed bluntly. "You can't just keep making up excuses. Grow up."
"Oh now that's just rude."
"Don't know what to tell ya. You know what you have to do, I'm tired of holding your hand through this. You're a grown ass man. You either do it or don't."

Weeks passed, you and Alastor grew ever closer.
He found himself coming over just about every day, staying the night with you, late mornings rolling around in the sheets with you; and of course, traveling with you if you had to. Joining you on your outings with your friends -who also came to adore having him around, it was undeniable how happy he made you and was easy to see.
Back home, Alastor referred to you as his sweetheart; and proudly did so. Of course, that was only to Husk and to Niffty. They had their own opinions on the whole situation, but couldn't ignore that it was refreshing to see him so happy.
One day while you were at your grandparents they saw you smiling at your phone as you were looking at a picture you took of you and him together on one of your date nights out on the town. You blushed when they asked why you were smiling and finally told them you were seeing somebody. They lit up with excitement and told you they'd love to meet him, you offered to bring him by for the holidays if he was interested and they were delighted by the idea.
