THE T.A.R.D.I.S FLEW aggressively around space, swirling in an incorrect way as the doctor, rose and callisto were flung around the console of the ship. rose looked at the doctor, "what's the emergency?"

"it's mauve!" he called back.

"mauve?" rose questioned, holding tightly to the console as the ship gave another great jolt.

"universally recognised colour for danger." callisto explained.

"what happened to 'red'?" rose questioned.

"that's just humans. by everyone else's standard, red's just camp. oh, the misunderstandings! all those red alerts, all that dancing! it's got a very basic flight computer. i've hacked in, slaved the t.a.r.d.i.s. wherever it goes, we go!" the doctor explained.

"and that's safe, is it?" rose questioned.

"totally." the doctor nodded just as the console started to explode and spark. "okay, reasonably. i shoulda said 'reasonably' there. no, no, no! it's jumping time tracks, it's getting away from us!"

"what exactly is this thing?" rose asked.

"no idea." the doctor replied.

"then why are we chasing it?" rose questioned.

"it's mauve and dangerous." the doctor responded. "and about 30 seconds from the centre of london."

not long later, the t.a.r.d.i.s had materialised in its destination. rose left the ship, callisto close behind her, her skin no longer green, the pair looking at their new surroundings. they had appeared in a dark, dingy alley. boxes were dumped around the gitty, some washing hung across the windows between the alley to dry off floating in the breeze.

"d'you know how long you can knock around space without happening to bump into earth?" the doctor asked as he got out, too.

"five days? or is that when we're just outta milk?" rose hummed.

"all the species in all the universe and it has to come out of a cow!" the doctor grimaced making callisto laugh.

"it came out of trees on my planet." callisto mused.

"trees? how did that work?" rose questioned as they started walking out of the alley.

"they had little pouches on the trunks. a bit like coconuts, but the skin was more like the peel of an orange and it was blue." callisto explained. "it was a bit sweeter than cows milk. that was some very useless information."

"i'd rather milk from a tree. anyway, it must've come down somewhere quite close. within a mile, anyway. and it can't have been more than a few weeks ago. maybe a month." the doctor explained.

"a month?" rose questioned, shocked. "we were right behind it."

"it's jumping time tracks all over the place, we're bound to be a little behind. d'you wanna drive?" the doctor snarked jokingly.
