AFTER THE MOMENT of shock wore off, the doctor sprang into action and began to storm back into the main room where the crew still were. rose and callisto followed behind, unsure what to say as they both wondered how they could get the t.a.r.d.i.s back or at least leave this odd, impossible planet.
"the ground gave way. my t.a.r.d.i.s must've fallen down, right into the heart of the planet, but you've got robot drills heading the same way." the doctor said to the crew, adding another element of panic into the situation.
"we can't divert the drilling." zach shrugged, unable to help him but looking as though he didn't really care.
"but i need my ship!" the doctor continued, walking around the opposite direction of the control panel to zach when he moved. "it's all i've got. literally, the only thing."
"doctor, we've only got the resources to dig one, central shaft down to the power source, and that's it. no diversions, no distractions, no exceptions. your machine is lost. all i can do is offer you a lift, if we ever get to leave this place. and that is the end of it." zach explained firmly, walking past the doctor.
"i'll, uh, put you on the duty roster. we need someone in the laundry." ida added, following zach out of door 1.
"open door 1."
"close door 1."
they were left in the room with an ood, who was just walking around the room aimlessly. when the doctor looked up at his companions, rose looked down and callisto tried to offer him a comforting smile, but was almost certain it was more of a grimace. they wouldn't be able to go back.
"i've trapped you two here." the doctor stated, leaning on the console beside callisto.
"no, don't worry about me." rose said and callisto nodded in agreement. the room shook again, a little less violently than the previous time. "okay, we're on a planet that shouldn't exist, underneath a black hole... with no way out. yeah, i've changed my mind, start worrying about me."
rose looked up at callisto, who was closest to her, before hugging her tightly, leaning her head on her shoulder. the zen-whobian returned the hug and looked up at the doctor, the pair sharing a worried glance. while callisto hadn't known rose as long as the doctor and she hadn't been the one to invite her into her ship and offer her a view of the universe, she still felt a form of responsibility over her. rose was 19-years-old. she was only just a legal adult and in comparison to both the doctor and callisto, she was still a child.
