A LOUD STATEMENT echoed through the silo, ordering the humans to make their way onto the rocket immediately. as they followed that order, joyful to finally be heading their promised utopia, everyone in professor yana's workplace was making sure the rocket would actually be able to take off.
technology was thrown between the people while callisto and the doctor shouted their instructions across the room, running all over the place. they slipped thin boards into place, adjusting wires and cables in their necessary positions. chantho and martha left for a short while to collect some much needed supplies.
the doctor sniffed a wire, glasses falling down his nose, "is that...?"
"yeah, gluten extract. binds the neutralino map together." professor yana explained.
"but that's food. you built this system out of food and string and staples." the doctor stated, staring at him in amazement. "professor yana, you're a genius."
"powering a rocket on non-technological objects is fucking incredible." callisto complimented, a thick rope of wires hung over her shoulder.
"says the people that got it to work." professor yana replied.
"oh, it's easy, coming in at the end. but, you're stellar. this is- this is magnificent." the doctor corrected and professor yana smiled to himself. "and i don't often say that 'cause... well, 'cause of me."
"he's ever so humble." callisto remarked sarcastically and the older man chuckled.
"well, even my title is an affectation. hasn't been such a thing as a university for over 1,000 years. i've spent my life going from one refugee ship to another." professor yana explained.
"if you'd have been born in a different time, you'd be revered." the doctor said and the professor chuckled like he didn't believe it. "i mean it. throughout the galaxies."
"oh, those damn galaxies. they had to go and collapse." professor yana joked. "some admiration would've been nice, yes. just a little, just once."
"well, you've got it now." the doctor hummed.
"that footprint engine, you can't activate it from onboard, you can only do it from here." callisto spoke up. "i'm guessing you're staying here."
"with chantho." professor yana nodded. "she won't leave without me. no, simply refuses."
"you'd give your life so they can fly?" the doctor asked.
"oh, i think i'm a little too old for utopia. time i had some sleep." professor yana confirmed easily.
"professor, tell the doctor we found his blue box." a man said through the speaker in the corner of the room.
"ah!" the doctor beamed.
