SINCE LEARNING THAT rose had been captured by the daleks, jack, the doctor and callisto were determined to save her. the trio had gotten into the t.a.r.d.i.s, the doctor starting to fly towards the largest disc-shaped ship where rose was being held.
"we got incoming!" jack exclaimed, seeing two missiles being shot towards the spinning t.a.r.d.i.s. they slammed into the t.a.r.d.i.s, exploding. however, the blue police box and the people within stayed completely unharmed. "the extrapolater's working. we've got a fully functional force field. try saying that when you're drunk."
"and for my next trick." the doctor muttered, pulling a lever down which caused the t.a.r.d.i.s to materialised around rose and a dalek, trapping them inside the ship. "rose, get down! get down, rose!"
she listened as the dalek bellowed, "exterminate!" shooting a beam from its whisk hand. however, it screamed as it died when callisto used jack's stolen gun to kill it, blasting the top half of it off.
"you did it." rose mumbled, standing as the doctor approached her, giving her a hug. "feels like i haven't seen you in years."
"i told you we'd come and get you." the doctor said.
"never doubted it." rose smiled.
"i did." the doctor said as callisto made her way over to the blonde.
"you alright?" she asked.
"yeah, you two?" rose inquired, hugging callisto who did so, much less hesitantly than previous times.
"fine, yeah." callisto nodded, pulling away from the hug.
"not bad. been better." the doctor shrugged and moved to look at the broken dalek.
"hey, don't i get a hug?" jack smiled as he approached rose.
"oh, c'mere!" rose went to hug him.
"no, i was talking to him!" jack joked, the pair sharing a small laugh before hugging. "welcome home."
"oh, i thought i'd never see you again!" rose exclaimed.
"you're lucky callisto's a one shot wonder." jack grinned. "it drained the gun of its power supply, now it's just junk."
"you said they were extinct, how comes they're still alive?" rose asked the doctor.
"one minute they're the greatest threat in the universe, the next minute they vanish outta time and space." jack said.
"went off to fight a bigger war." the doctor muttered, standing straight. "the time war."
"i thought that was just a legend." jack marvelled.
"i was there. the war between the daleks and the time lords, with the whole of creation at stake. my people were destroyed, but it took the daleks with 'em. i almost thought it was worth it. now it turns out they died for nothing." the doctor hummed.
