THE NEXT DAY, the doctor, callisto, rose, mickey and sarah jane arrived at the school. they got out of the car. the students walking inside of school like normal.
"rose, sarah and callisto, you go to the maths room, crack open those computers. i need to see the hardware inside. here, you might need this." the doctor handed sarah jane the sonic screwdriver, rose frowning and her hand falling limp at her side when she realised he wasn't going to give it to her. "mickey, surveillance, i want you outside."
"just stand outside?" mickey called as they started to walk in.
"here, take these," sarah jane threw her car keys at him, which he caught, " you can keep k9 company."
"don't forget to leave the window open a crack." the doctor said.
"what, he's metal!" mickey exclaimed, throwing his hands up.
"i didn't mean for him!" the doctor called back.
"what're you gonna do?" rose asked.
"it's time i had a word with mr. finch." he replied as they entered the school.
while the doctor split away from the women to find finch, eventually meeting him by the swimming pool, where he discovered he was called brother lassar. callisto, rose and sarah jane continued on to the maths room. rose was grumpily sat on a chair while sarah jane was pointing the doctor's sonic screwdriver at the wires on the computer, callisto beside her.
sarah jane sighed, sitting back on her knees and slapping the sonic screwdriver, "it's not working."
"here, i'll try." callisto muttered and sarah jane handed it to her, watching as she held it to the wires.
"it used to work first time in my day." sarah jane remembered.
"oh, well, things were a lot simpler back then." rose snarked, callisto rolling her eyes as the tip of the sonic glowed blue and whirred.
"rose, can i give you a bit of advice?" sarah jane asked as callisto stood up.
"i've got a feeling you're about to." rose replied.
"i know how intense a relationship with the doctor can be and i don't want either of you to feel, i mean truly—"
"i don't feel threatened by you, if that's what you mean." rose interrupted.
"right, good, 'cause i'm not interested in picking up where we left off." sarah jane said.
"no? with the big sad eyes and the robot dog? what else were you doing last night?" rose demanded.
"i was just saying how hard it was adjusting to life back on earth." sarah jane replied.
"the thing is, when you two met, they'd only just got rid of rationing. no wonder all that space stuff was a bit too much for ya." rose continued.
