STEF POV

"So what, Lena called you? She couldn't call me?" I ask sarcastically shaking my head and lighting a smoke as Mike and I are chatting in my backyard.

After talking to the kids and calming them they were now all passed out in my room on the bed, but of course my biggest concern was Stefanie for this kid just couldn't get a break to save her life and all I wanted to do was kick Tess' ass.

"She was worried, Stef. Apparently Frankie called her hysterically crying her eyes out, and she asked me to check on you and the kids. And nice shiner. What happened?"

"If she wanted to check on me and the kids she could have called me, herself. That woman makes no sense to me. She'll talk to EVERYONE around me about me BUT ME!" I am so damn annoyed by this, and it makes me want to call her ass up right now, but I won't dare. I don't need to get even more upset if that Denni chick answered the fucking phone.

"Stef, stop deflecting. What happened?" He asks as I puff my smoke and wiggle my nose looking at him. "What happened with Jillian and with Tess?"

"She ran her mouth Mike, okay? That cunt, of a girlfriend Tess has, ran her mouth at me about shit she doesn't know, and about Stefanie. I don't know what the fuck is going on there between them. No idea, but Tess has lost her ever loving fucking mind. I lost my temper because Jillian kept going and going and..."

"And you slammed her against the wall?" Mike asks as I can see he is trying not to laugh.

"Yeah I did. But don't get it twisted, Mike. Believe me she was taking swings at me too, challenging me and saying shit like I wouldn't dare do anything. I'm not gonna let someone take a stab at Stefanie like that. Not happening on my fucking watch."

"Stef, I know that. Why didn't you call me to go with you? Huh? You knew ahead of time how volatile that could get." Mike says as I shake my head, not caring, for I wouldn't change anything right now. Nothing.

"I didn't know, Mike. I never saw that side of Jillian before. I had no idea she'd push me, and I'd lose my shit on her. Okay? Fucking shoot me. You and I both know my job means a lot. My kids first then my job, and Tess is talking about how she went to our captain. Fuck her!" I yell puffing my smoke in anger for this entire thing pissed me off.

"She didn't. I called some of the guys. No one came in, Stef. All talk. But, I do think you should mention it to Cap tomorrow. Even if this Jillian assaulted a police officer."

"I was off duty, Mike. I'm not sure that even counts," I laugh as I put out my smoke and take a sip of water.

"You're still a cop, Stef." He reminds me as I roll my eyes.

"Tess is not going to bat for me, let me tell you that much."

"I will, and the guys will. You're a dedicated officer, Stef and let me tell you if either of them come after you they will have to deal with me. I don't take it lightly someone giving my friend and mother of my daughter a shiner. Although I can only imagine what she looks like." He laughs as I puff my smoke and laugh myself.

"Happens when you grow up with all those brothers. You know this," I shake my head.

"Ah even if you didn't, you still would be tough. You kicked my ass once."

"Only because you tried to control me, and I was tired of your SHIT." I point at him as he smiles again at me.

"Maybe so. But Frank Jr, told me one time you tackled some boys. You were about ten, he said. He didn't know you overheard what they were saying about him. Ya know, calling him fag and all that stuff. He said he came outside and you had one pinned to the ground. That your hair was a mess and all."
