"Oh my fucking God!" Frankie whispers loudly as she sees the tall blonde woman standing beside her mother, and she instantly recognizes her as the one who stared at her at Round Rock and who had also complimented her name.
"What's wrong now, Franks?" Stefanie stops to look at her younger sister, concerned as she places down more napkins at one of the tables along with a few cups as the show was getting even more crowded. and they needed to make sure they kept up with the demand for food and beverages.
"That's the woman who told on me! For working at Round Rock! I knew it!!!!!" She hisses as Stefanie's eyebrows furrow, and she steps closer to the girl now staring in the direction Frankie is looking in.
"Her? She looks like she knows Aunt Lena. They're talking."
"Ya, well, it's HER! She must be Mama's boss, and she has a big ass mouth too! She probably saw the photos on Mama's desk and recognized me, so she felt the need to tattle like a fucking child. I don't like her," Frankie rolls her eyes as Sierra, her friend who was helping stops by the girl and whispers.
"Hey, is that the woman who..."
"Yes! I should have knocked her in the face then!" Frankie storms to the back to look for her hidden cigarettes as Sierra follows close behind her.
"Franks! Your moms will catch you, silly," she laughs as Frankie rolls her eyes not even giving a crap, for she was so damn annoyed that she didn't know what to do with herself.
"I fucking doubt it. They're busy chatting with family and horrible FRIENDS," she spits out as she flings open the back door, and Sierra follows close behind.
"Well, I'll be look-out because I really don't want you to get into any trouble," Sierra says as she leans against the door, and Frankie lights her smoke, puffing it as she taps her foot anxiously. The young girl had promised her Mama Dukes a few months ago she'd stop smoking, but it just never happened for by this time she was fully addicted as she blows smoke out the side of her mouth feeling instantly relaxed.
Sierra reaches out now and brushes a stray curl from her friend's face as she sighs softly. "Frankie, she's your mama's boss, okay? You said yourself how much your mama missed her art, and how this gallery job meant everything to her. So, let it go, okay? Don't ruin what good has come to your mama. I get you're annoyed, but let these feelings sit with you then pass over because if you go off on her you could jeopardize everything your mama has worked for."
Frankie glares back at the girl now as she shakes her head and continues to puff her smoke. "Ya, I'll try. Doesn't stop me from being fucking annoyed. I HATE tattle tells. I just do, and she looks like she belongs on Broadway or the fucking red carpet, not as some art boss. I hate her."
"You don't even know her, silly," Sierra laughs as she takes the smoke from Frankie and takes a puff.
"I know enough! Traitor!" Frankie snatches the smoke back and finishes it before tossing it and leaning in to peck Sierra's lips before opening the door. "Let's get back and check the food," she says grabbing her hand and squeezing it as the two make their way back into the kitchen to pass out more food while the family continues to enjoy the show.
Denni had been looking around at all the other students' work as well as she politely takes an horderve from one of the girls who is walking around the gallery. She soon spots Callie who smiles at her, and Denni returns it. "I love your work, young lady. It's beautiful."
"Oh thanks! You're Mocha's...I mean Mama's boss, right?"
"I work with her. I'm Denni, and you are Callie, correct?" She says stretching her hand out as the girl smiles shaking it.
