LENA POV
"Come in, honey! Come see how I've changed my RV around, sweet cakes and tell me what you think baby." Sharon says as I climb the steps of her RV having not been in here for some time.
Stef had gone to her two AA meetings, and the kids were inside resting from the day at the beach as I had decided to come out and thank Sharon for helping out with Corey before dinner. I smile at her now as I look around and nod for she was so eccentric but down to earth at the same time. A far cry from who she was when I first met her not too long ago.
"It's lovely. Stef said your business is doing well?"
"That it is, babylove! Who knew, right? But come have a seat. I have not read your cards in well over a year!" She pulls out a frilly looking seat which I can see she had decorated herself with lavender satin and soft frill.
"Oh no, you don't need to, Sharon. I just came in here to thank you for helping with Corey. Stef and I really appreciate it." I smile as she takes a seat at the table and lights a smoke. It was still very jarring to see her like this because all I've ever known was her judgmental and rather racist self. At times it still seemed too good to be true, but she had stayed true to changing, something for which I am grateful if I'm honest.
"Nonsense. And of course I have no issue with helping with Corey. All those boys I had I'm a pro! Now, come sit with me, babygirl and take a load off. Smoke?" She offers as I decline and sit across from her as she looks at me and smiles and I return it.
"You know, honey, I always did like you. Even when I had my phase. So I call it. I always felt you and my daughter had a special connection even if I did not admit it out loud. I saw how you two connected so easily, and well, it was perfect in my eyes. Not alot of love going around like that."
"Oh, well, I mean we did, yes. Do? I guess."
"You can still have one even if you aren't meant to be together. Some people work better as friends. So to say." She says putting some cards down as I glance back into her face. "You know I don't pry even if my daughter thinks I'm nosy."
"I think you just care, is all. And the kids love you a great deal Sharon. I'm glad you are around." I smile at her and she nods just puffing away on her smoke with not a care in the world.
"I am glad to be around too babylove! It's like living a second time but the way I've wanted. But enough about me and my wild ways, but tell me Lena, how is this new girlfriend of yours?"
"Oh um..she's nice. It's good," I blush as she raises her eyebrows, smiling.
"I heard she's into art. That she works at the gallery as a teacher or she runs it?"
"Oh no, she is a visiting professor, and um, she is part of the board. So she helps with ways to grow the gallery and the financial side too. There are different parts to her job." I explain as I run my fingers over her table cloth which matches her frilly chair.
"MM, sounds exciting."
"Yes, she's um, she's pretty great. She has shown me a ton of art galleries around town and stuff. Things I didn't know about at all and we had a great time in LA."
"So she's very supportive of your desire to do art then, baby?" She smiles back at me as she puffs her smoke, and I nod.
"Yes, she is. She's British actually and um she's, different from anyone I've ever met. She's um, she's calm, and we talk a good amount. I really do enjoy her company." I say finding myself rambling rather nervously as she looks at me smiling.
"That's important. Just is in any relationship, doll face."
"Yes we um...we go running at night, and we go out to eat often, I mean she knows so many great restaurants and just about things in general. We work well together." I admit as I feel my stomach twisting remembering how she didn't sound too happy when I spoke to her this morning, but I pushed it down all day until Stef had questioned me about it.
