Sitting on the ground with the wind blowing through my hair gave me a sense of security. I smiled as I started to braid my hair.

"It's so beautiful out here... I remember sitting on my mother's porch swing and just reading for hours.."

I said, finishing my braid. I looked up at Rei who had an extreme case of borderline personality disorder, but this time, his childlike personality took over.

"I wanna go home and play with my dolls. I could show you my baseball collection!"

I couldn't help but smile as I watched him make a beautiful flower crown.

"I'd love to, Rei. I can't wait to see them!"

I looked over at Heston, who was leaning against the tree and weaving grass together.

"Heston, what's wrong?"

"Oh, it's nothing, Kasper. I just believe that the guard over there keeps looking over at you. Do you think he fancies you?"

I couldn't help but look over at Donovan, who quickly looked away.

"I'd rather not talk about that.."

My eyes made their way back to the tall, dark man across the courtyard. I knew this was wrong, but my heart was telling me something completely different than my brain. Chewing on my lip, I stood up. Heston immediately jerks his head up.

"Where are you going?"

"I'm going to talk to him. Maybe it's the right thing to do."

"I don't know about this, Kasper... Just be careful."

I thanked him for being vigilant before walking over to him. His bright brown eyes looked down at me, stopping me in my tracks. I took a deep breath before saying,

"Hi, Donovan.."

"Hey... I didn't think you'd want to talk to me after what happened.."

I looked around, making sure nobody was listening.

"Come get me after lights out. We need to talk."

Before he could say anything, I turned and went back to my friends as quickly as possible, a large smile plastered against my face.
