I've been here since the beginning when the walls were a bright blinding white and the floors were so clean, you could see your own reflection with every step you take. Now, the walls were covered in fading shades of red, yellow and brown, and the once clean wood floors are now completely covered in the guard's trash and, in some areas, the patient's vomit.
I sighed, looking over at the boy I call my own, Kasper.
"You know, this place used to be so beautiful when it first opened.. All the floors and walls were spotless, and the guards were so nice."
Kasper couldn't help but laugh as he responded with,
"Yeah, maybe before regulations stepped in."
I just rolled my eyes. I know he wasn't wrong, but a part of me knows we can go back to those times where the patients were happy and the guards actually cared.
That's when a lightbulb went off in my head. I know exactly what I can do, but what if I get caught?
I quickly pushed the thought away. I'm so old and well respected, even among the guards, nobody will do anything to me. I looked over at Kasper, who was staring up at the clouds, smiling to himself. I hesitated before biting my lip hard and going back to my room, thinking the plan over, calculating all the risks in my head.
