chapter 1
Ever since Shigaraki watched you leave the heroes and disappear in the night he'd been looking for you. Not exactly hunting you down but anyone he knew on the streets (A lot of people) was under the order of reporting the where-abouts of you the ex-hero. He had also clarified that they were not to lay a finger on you announcing to them that you were claimed. Everyone who got the message either believed in what he wanted for the world, or had seen his devastation first hand in their own lives. He was building his own little army and group of spies. He had even bigger plans for you.
You lay in the basement of an abandoned building coming to the conclusion that if you do not leave to get food and water you may very well die. "Fuck." You only have the energy to mutter that one word pulling your sore body from the floor for the first time in a week. You had come here after leaving the agency because you knew for a fact no patrol came here. You did pick up water and snacks but those were long gone. This had become a make-shift home. 'I wonder if they would still be staking out my place or if they stopped caring already.'
The thought of your past coworkers sends a stab of rage through your entire body. Spurring you to finally emerge from your hole. You have no clue what to do but you know what you will under no circumstances be doing. "You'll never own me Endeavor!" You growl to the sky. If you had any energy you likely would have sent a lazer straight to the moon. Your rage begins to cloud your vision but you push through fully deciding that agency or not you had legal right to return to your flat downtown. With a huff you make your way there. "It's an hour's walk from here dove." You flinch at the voice above you and stop dead in your tracks. "How the hell of all fucking places are you here?!" Your tone spits fire and your eyes smolder.
Hawks drops down beside you and hands you a bag of food. "Look I'm not here to change your mind Y/N I support leaving an agency 100% I'm here because of Endeavor, and to answer the question I'm sure is running through your head no. I'm not actually working for him. I have bigger fish to fry.I am who he special requested to find you though. I didn't like the way he looked when he spoke of you." Hawks looks down at your dirty and tear streaked face feeling his own heart sink at the sight of such a strong light in this world flickering out.
"Hawks, are you going to report me?" You look over too tired to talk around the issue. "No Y/N and you don't have to give me anything at all in return for the help either. Except maybe lay low so I'm not forced to take you to him." You nod understanding what needs to happen next and gratefully take the bag of take out he offers. "I guess I'll find a new hole to bury myself in. Honestly, it wasn't too bad. Learned a lot about myself at least." The words feel grim as they leave your mouth. Hawks can feel that he does not want to know what you learned but cannot put his finger on why.
You guys had been friends before any of this. He remembers when you were full of justice and love...you feel so different to him now. "Did he hurt you Y/N?" Hawks finally blurts out his wings spreading a bit in agitation. You blink back the memories and tears shaking your head. "Hawks we can't do this. I'm not ever going to speak of why I hate heroes. Just know that you are even on thin ice." Your glare and the way your mannerisms turn almost feral as you move. "Y/N what the fuck happened" He reaches out to touch you and you flinch away. "Hawks if you ever attempt to lay a finger on me again expect it to be taken off without warning." Your tone is so cold it brings his wings to ruffle inward slightly and goosebumps raise all over his arms. "You're acting like a villain Y/N..."
The moment his words hit your ears you stop and grit your teeth frustrated. "Ya know what Hawks I have seen everything that "HEROS" are capable of and why they do the things they do. Are they really for the good citizens Hawks? But that alone isn't the worst of it, you see..." You pause to see if you should continue realizing you have lost hold of yourself a bit. "Go on." He encourages you as you both continue walking.
"I think the worst thing about you heroes...is that you lie about all of it, and in doing so ruin more and more lives." Hawks flashed to a memory of Dabi spouting off about something similar and he shivered. "Y/N I get that not all heroes do what they should but..." He struggles to find a way to defend them. He's seen some of the worst as well. You both lived a very similar childhood. He could see how another event could easily break a person's psyche. Even thebest of them it seems...
"There's nothing I can say honestly except I think you should consider therapy for whatever happened. Like when we joined actual school." You scoff, take one last look at your old friend, and run into a random alley deciding that exerting yourself is worth getting away from him. You dart in a few different directions than stumble into a retro bar. 'Shit.'
Shigaraki looks over at you and raises an eyebrow from beneath the hand on his face. You can just make out a smirk. "Uhhh I was just...fuck." Shigaraki cackles and slams his hands on the table making you jump. You may be able to manage one laser beam but you were willing to bet that the others were here too.
"So convenient for you to deliver yourself to us." He sneers and steps towards you. "You see I would like you to join us here at the League. We don't have much at the moment but I'm sure you would prefer being hidden than in the open for Endeavor to devour." You growl at his words fighting the urge to start a battle right here at the bar. "You know I could just run and get help and you would be nothing." You threaten hating the way the words curl your stomach in self loathing. "You don't actually want that do you though doll."
You blink up at the villain and take a breath. Playing along is the only choice you had until building up your strength, but damn it you wanted your shit. "We took the liberty of moving some things from your home before setting it on fire. To send a message." A smile creeps across your face and it makes you wonder if perhaps Hawks was on to something.
