I hope you like how your bedroom turned out. I'm sorry for making you sleep in an empty dark room. Rest well.
That was the letter he left on top of my pillow the night I arrived in a newly renovated room. Honestly, everything he was doing made me more confused. I messaged him that night and he replied welcome. I didn't know why I was expecting more but he should at least have asked how I was. Or am I just overreacting or expecting something else when Mr. Jeon only wanted to show kindness?
"Good morning, Mr. Jeon." I entered his office that morning with his favorite coffee in my right hand and I prepared a serving of breakfast oatmeal for him.
His eyes furrowed when I placed the container on his table. "What's this?"
"I know I did not ask you if you like it but I made breakfast oatmeal last night for my morning meal. I made extra so you can try."
I saw how his lips curved up. I hope that was an appreciative smile. "Thank you."
Just that? No how are you? Have you eaten your breakfast? Like that? Oh! Yes. I just said I prepared the oatmeal last night for MY breakfast.
"Mr. Jeon, remember the canceled conference months ago? It was rescheduled for the 25th. You have a meeting with the Phil Group CEO that day. I will cancel and reschedule the meeting for the next possible date."
"No need. He will be there at the conference anyway. And about the conference, please proceed to the Dior shop in Lotte Mall after your lunch and look for Chae. She knows what to do."
And that's how I ended up in Lotte Mall at 2 in the afternoon. I was walking for around thirty minutes because I was completely clueless as to where I should pick up Mr. Jeon's suit for the conference.
There were few people inside the store when I entered. I checked my clothes and flattened them with my hands as the people inside the shop were sophisticated just by the way they dressed. A lady came to me. Perhaps, I looked like a lost confused kitty or whatever.
"Hi, how may I help you?"
I smiled and took a small bow, "I am looking for Chae. Mr. Jeon Jungkook sent me here."
Her eyes brightened when she heard Mr. Jeon's name. No wonder, Mr. Jeon is a billionaire and I am aware of how famous he is. "Oh! Are you Mr. Kim Seokjin?"
I nodded.
"Please follow me."
I followed her toward the back part of the shop. I was amazed at how huge it was. It looked like a private showroom. I haven't been in one. Because I bought my wedding suit in a department store. So it amazed me that rich people have such privilege.
"Good afternoon, Seokjin. I am Chae."
I was startled when I realized that I was already in a room with a fine woman, her arms stretched to shake mine. I obliged and gave a warm smile. "Hello. Mr. Jeon sent me to pick up his suit."
Chae giggled and I didn't know why. She ushered me into a room. There was a line of suits hanging against the wall. "Mr. Jeon sent you here for a fitting. You should look fabulous at that conference as his partner."
Wait! what? "Pardon?"
Chae, a middle-aged woman looked me in the eye with a fond smile on her face, "That conference isn't just any business conference, darling. Mr. Jeon's direction to me is to find you the nicest suit for the event. A handsome man like you deserves the best."
I couldn't make the meaning behind Chae's statement. I'm not aware that I would be coming with Mr. Jeon. There weren't any instructions or heads up about it. Or I didn't know because I was busy this morning thinking about why he didn't ask how I am?
