A light kiss on his forehead awakened Jin. He drifted to sleep on the couch while waiting for Jungkook to return. As soon as he opened his eyes, he was greeted by Jungkook, smiling softly at him.
"You're not drunk?" Jin asked, concerned whether his father let Jungkook drink a lot.
"No. We finished only a bottle. I told him I couldn't drink too much. I'm driving tomorrow. Why don't you go to your bedroom? Are you comfortable there on the couch?" Jungkook lay down on the floor mattress Jin had prepared. Pulling the blanket over his body as he stared up to meet Jin's eyes.
"I'm okay. I'm sorry my dad held you hostage."
Jungkook chuckled. He was surprised too by the sudden invitation, but he thought of it as gaining Jin's parents' trust. "Your dad was very welcoming. He is so proud of you."
"I hope he didn't tell you so much about my childhood and younger days."
"He did."
"No way!"
Jungkook laughed as he reached out for Jin's hand, who, in turn, interlaced their fingers together. "Your father is so proud of you."
The words did tug on Jin's heart, but they somehow caused sadness. He could still remember how happy his parents were when he graduated from University. In the small village where they live, when your child graduated from Seoul, it was like you won the lottery. Everyone in the city would look up to you as if you were royal blood. But he ended up marrying his then-boyfriend soon after.
He knew his parents were disappointed. Perhaps, they wanted to ask him to wait or to think twice or enjoy his hard work first. But to his parents, his happiness comes first, so they gave him away to the man who would soon break his heart.
Thinking about all that, all he gave to his parents were worries and disappointments. And it pained him knowing after all those; his father was still proud of what he had become.
"Are you okay?"
Perhaps, the silence worried Jungkook. Jin didn't notice he was staring at their intertwined hands. Jin sat down and slid down onto the mattress. He moved the blanket, lay beside Jungkook, and pulled the blanket back. The whole time, Jungkook was panicking as he kept looking at the stairs, worried one of Jin's parents would catch them.
"You want me dead by tomorrow, don't you?"
Jin did not answer. Instead, he nuzzled his face in Jungkook's neck and rested his hand on Jungkook's chest.
"Hey."
"Please," Jin whispered.
Jungkook took another glance at the stairs. Feeling defeated, he held Jin closely. "You can tell me anything. You know that."
"Nothing. I just don't know how to tell them I live in your apartment."
"Are they going to the hearing?"
Jin bobbed his head, "They will."
"They would know eventually. Please don't worry too much. They will understand." As Jungkook said these, he kept on kissing Jin's head.
Jin wanted to say more but chose to remain silent. He wasn't sure if he was overcomplicating things again, like what happened earlier that day. It caused him a lot of stress when there was nothing to stress about.
"I'll ask Taehyung to fetch your parents so they don't need to commute."
"You don't have to."
"Once they saw us like this, I need to find a way to lessen your father's anger."
