It had been almost a year since Jin last saw his son. The upcoming court hearing increased his already existing anxiety. Now that he was heading to his parent's home, his worries furthered.
His father hadn't spoken to him or expressed interest in seeing him. Something he was worried about. He believed that his mother was insisting, but his father was refusing. He could not help but think that his father might be disappointed by his wrong choices and a failed marriage. He was nervous about meeting his father for the first time after his divorce, and all he had in his head was to apologize.
His father was the most loving man he knew. He was always kind and understanding. It made his heart hurt more now that it seemed his father was avoiding him. Perhaps, his decision to visit them was a perfect idea after all. Though his initial intention was to escape from a supposed heartbreak that turned out to be a false one, he considered this visit as a chance to make it up with his father. And to lessen the burden in his heart, knowing that that day was somehow 'special.'
He was in deep thought when his phone suddenly rang, and it was Jimin. He quickly answered the call, realizing what the phone call was all about. "What happened? Oh. I see. It's okay. At least we tried. No. It's okay. I promise. I'm on my way to my parents. Yes. It's okay. I'll see you when I get back."
There was a brief silence before Jungkook asked, "Is something up in the office? I can ask someone to do it."
"Oh. No. It was a personal favor. I asked him to buy something for me."
Jungkook hummed as he nodded. "Are you okay? We're nearby."
Jin looked around the area, and they were indeed nearby. The place was still familiar after all those years. There were new establishments here and there, but the "country feel" was still there. And it felt like home. It still felt like home.
"I hope Appa isn't mad at me. I don't know why I'm so nervous. He hasn't spoken to me since my divorce." Jin looked at Jungkook with worried eyes.
Jungkook parked on the roadside, houses away from Jin's parents' home. Holding Jin's hand, Jungkook smiled as he spoke, "Your father loves you. Do not think that he was refusing to see or talk to you. Fathers sometimes don't want to show their weak side. Crying and stuff. You're his only son. I'm sure he didn't mean to make you worry. So do not assume. This is your chance to talk to him. Don't worry too much."
Jin didn't know if it calmed him or made him worry more. But, Jungkook was right; it was his chance to talk to his father. And somehow make amends.
"My address is with you. You can always call me if you need anything. Please be okay." Jungkook once again reminded Jin as he squeezed Jin's hand. He leaned in to kiss Jin before rubbing his thumb on Jin's cheek. "Smile. Okay?"
Jin smiled nervously as he mouthed the words Thank you. He took a deep breath before going down the car. Jungkook waited until Jin was inside the house before driving away.

His parent's home didn't change at all. However, it was a bit cramped due to the diner's supplies occupying some space in their living area. Everything else was the same.
Mr. Kim gave a cup of tea to Jin before settling down in the dining area. Mrs. Kim was still cooking when Jin arrived, and like what Jungkook said, his father wasn't mad. "I didn't want to hear your voice. I know you will cry. If only I could unbreak your heart, I would. I'm sorry, Jin. I didn't mean to make you worry."
Jin hated how he always overcomplicated things in his mind. He had to remind himself again and again of the things his therapist kept on telling him to lessen his negative thoughts. It was hard, but since his therapy was just starting, he made a mental note to discuss his apprehensions on his next visit.
