Steve POV:
You rubbed your jaw as you stumbled through the house. Fuck. You hurt Ellie and Eddie with that display of stupidity. You were just getting used to being more than the King. You just were getting used to having actual friends, sure Robin was there, but Ellie and Tiff meant a lot. Your hormonal outburst had caused them to fight and caused Ellie to look at you differently. At least that's what you thought you saw, it may just be your nerves."STEVEEEEEE!" You hear some girls squeal. The same sound used to make you so happy, but now it wasn't her voice. You had started drinking to try and have some fun, that failed and you got called out by Gareth of all people. I didn't want to do anything, I wouldn't, if I was to ever have a shot, just the smallest doubt that Eddie was still in her mind would deter you. It wasn't fair to her, to Eddie or you to create this atmosphere, but for some reason your drunk self thought you could go a bit farther and hang on her.
I leaned against the wall, there were drunk and horny people all around you, take your pick Steve. Fill this void, take another shot, prove that you are exactly what they think. No. I'll make sure everyone gets home safe, I'll find Robin and get her to bed. This will be the last party with high school kids I throw. It's time to grow up....oh.
A hand finds it's way around my waist, I look down and it's attached to a cheerleader. She's got crazy red hair and a look in her eyes that she wants you. This has to be the one Gareth said spat on Mattie, but at this point in time you take another swig of your drink and look at her, "can I help you?"
"I sure hope so. My ex boyfriend just told me he's over me and ran off with Mattie Carver.... I need someone to help me get over him." She bites her lip and I can feel her come closer to me, hands wild on my belt. She knew what she was doing. Then I stop and process, who ran off with who?
"Who is this crazy ex?" My curiosity peaked, my eyebrow raises, I can see she thinks she's pretty, unlike Mattie who is genuinely beautiful and has no idea, but if some jock displaced her and took Mattie I should know, what if she was trapped in the house somewhere with him.
Always playing hero Harrington. That voice in your head going off again, when are you going to accept no one wants your help.
She just snarled, "Gareth Emerson... he has no right, I'm a cheerleader, he's lucky to have me."
Oh. Good for you Gareth. And that also explains why this girl is so set on Mattie, if she ever dated Gareth then she had a complex, she had loved someone outside the popular circle.
You take a deep breath placing a finger under her chin and sigh, "sweetheart, I'm not like your friends. I'm not going to be nice to you about this. Fuck, I've seen you do some not so nice things..."
Her eyes flutter and tears start to form, "you're friends with the two of them aren't you."
"Yes. When you figure out who you are, not this mean and boring version, come back and find me. I'll rock your world." I don't know why I said that, but I didn't want to touch her unless she wasn't part of my old life. I bent down and kissed her forehead, "do you need me to call you a ride?"
