I was at the cafe with Ashley, cleaning up. We'd been talking like usual when the bell above the door rang.
I looked over to see Jasmine walk in. I was a bit confused as to why she was here since Ashley hadn't mentioned her coming.
She walked over to Ashley and pulled her into a kiss. A rather heated kiss if you'd ask me.
When they finally finished, Jasmine smiled, "Hey babe."
I wanted to throw up at every interaction that I had just witnessed. It was disgusting.
"Hi, what are you doing here?" Ashley responded, seeming just confused as I was.
"I came to pick you up since I got tickets to an NBA game."
Ashley's eyes widened, "Really?"
"Yeah, a friend of mine had some extras."
"Oh my gosh!" She said before pulling her into another heated kiss.
If I would have known that Ashley liked to watch boys get sweaty running up and down a court chasing after balls for hours, I would bought her tickets sooner. It should have been me surprising her and getting passionately kissed in appreciation; not Jasmine.
"Thank you." She said. Then she turned to me, suddenly realizing that I was standing here watching, "Uh, do you mind if I leave a little early?"
"Of course not, go ahead."
"Thanks." She said, taking off her apron and collecting her things, "I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Yup, I'll see you tomorrow. Have fun."
And with that, she was gone. I could already imagine them feeding each other popcorn, making out on the kiss cam, holding hands as they watched the stupid basketball game.
That should have been me.

It was Friday, the day Ashley and I would have dinner with her parents. I made sure to dress appropriately, a bit conservative but not too much as to look like a teacher or something.
My heart was beating faster than a god damn Formula One car. I knew it was stupid to be nervous when I already knew they liked me, but I couldn't help it.
While I was awaiting my doom, Ashley and I were cleaning up the cafe.
"How was the basketball game?" I asked.
"It was great! We were on the Jumbotron and I even got an autographed basketball!"
"That's good." I said, wanting to jump off a cliff.
There were a good five minutes of silence before Ashley spoke, "Are you nervous?"
"Nervous about what?"
"The dinner."
"No, why would I be nervous?" I asked.
"Because the last time we had plans to see my parents, you almost had a panic attack."
I rolled my eyes, "No I didn't, you're being overdramatic."
"You were ready to kill yourself."
"That's me on a daily basis."
"True, but this time you didn't need to since you almost died of a heart attack."
I rolled my eyes again, "Okay, fine, whatever, I was nervous. But this time I'm not."
Then, suddenly, Ashley dropped her rag and walked over to where I was standing. She reached her hand out and tilted my chin up to face her. She looked into my eyes and suddenly my heart sped up.
