I can go weeks without feeling your touch,
Hearing your voice, drinking in your laughterBut only if I'm a short drive away

Perilously preventing my heart from wandering
Picking out the memories that present themselves in strange ways
Reminding myself that fondness and affection are not equivalent to romantic connection
And trying my absolute damndest not to forget that I can love without commitment
Be loved without reason
And be content with things as they are, without wanting more.
But my brain and heart seem to be at odds
And at the end of the struggle eternally internalized all I can think to say is
Damn the distance..
