For nearly a year I've lived in this house
Its cold walls, its quiet air
Alone I have existed here.
The empty space had never felt welcoming
Silence followed my footfalls through these halls
My voice was alone in its whispers
Not even the mice to keep me company through the nights.

But just like the dawn ends the dark,
Your presence ended my lonesome reign.
The house no longer feels empty,
My thoughts rarely remain dark
A smile has made my lips its resting place
And this building is now more than just a place to park.
Your love has brought excitement,
I'm both nervous and calm
Relaxed in knowing you will return
But afraid you'll never call it home.
