Are you afraid to say you're mine?
Does telling others make you uncomfortable?
You love me openly in public when we're together,
Whisper sweet nothings when we're at home,
But when you're around your friends away from me
Are you still proud to be with me?
If someone came onto you how would you react?
Would you proudly announce that you're off the market,
Present pictures we took together?
Would you let them know there's not a chance
Or would you avoid their oncoming with a nervous glance?
I hope you're not afraid to say you're mine
I pray I'm more than just something clandestine
But I need to know that you're not ashamed
To admit I'm yours when you're with her
Please don't toss my fears aside
It's taking everything I can do just not to cry
The anxiety building deep inside
As I lay here drunk with you on my mind
Writing a shitty poem to post online
Just tell me, am I worth mentioning to those around you
Am i?
