Your POV

I stood in front of my closet trying to contemplate on what to wear. After useless minutes and analysis, I gave up. I put on a formal piece of clothing because George's family was a wealthy family, and pretty well known in Ostania. I wore a light green top with a small black button and had a white collar. I wore a skirt that was just above my knees, it was the same color as my top with a belt securing the skirt so it doesn't fall. I wore calf-length socks with strapped up shoes.

I kept my hair loose and wore a headband as I sighed. "Getting ready to go to my classmate's house is so much harder than getting ready for school..." I said to myself, as I walked out of my room, kind of embarrassed with what I was wearing, it wasn't normal. I had my backpack ready, so I was about to walk out when Yor appeared.

"Mrs. Akari, want me to walk you to the house?" she asked, with hopeful eyes.

"Sure?" I said, feeling kind of queasy for some reason.

She smiled as she put on her shoes. We got out of the house and she locked the door. We started to walk out and left the building.

We walked for a while, and I felt a leaf drop on my head. I picked it up and looked at it. Yor giggled, as I looked at the sight. I widened my eyes.

The calm air whistled along with the breeze, and the luscious pink leaves were racing towards the ground, the air smelt fresh, the lake was in a rush. The sun was blanketing over the clouds, it was evening already, the pigeons came flying towards the park knowing there would be free food.

I was envious of mere animals. I looked at them with a source of jealousy. Some might say it's stupid, but even a snail has more freedom than a human. They have nothing to worry about, they can do whatever they want and whenever they want. Humans work so hard, because they are hungry for something. They want something, and when they achieve it, they become greedy. If they got a $10 cup, then they would want an upgrade to $20, and the chain keeps on going.

Sometimes, those chains of captivation tight end. The rope I seek to help me out of that dungeon never showed up. Whenever Anya watches that Spy show, Bondman always saves the princess. I sometimes wondered... Why didn't anyone see me or Anya back then?

No matter how hard I try to erase the past, it always comes back.

I was astonished by the beautiful look of the scenery. The wind brushed through us. "Mrs. Akari, we should hurry," Yor said, nudging my shoulder. I snapped out of my astonishment and nodded before walking with her.

"That scenery was beautiful, wasn't it?" Yor asked, as I nodded.

"Yor.." I stopped as she looked back at me and hummed at me in response, "Be honest... do you and Loid actually see me as family?"

Yor tilted her head like I was speaking gibberish, and sweetly smiled, "Of course, I may not be your biological mother, nor may I be as good as her ever... but please know that I will work hard to reach your expectations! On behalf of Loid... He treasures you and Anya like he does with his life. He would do anything to protect you, and Anya."

I looked away from her as I looked down. No use. No matter how hard I try to fit in with Loid and Yor, I can't. Whether it's what they did, or maybe because it goes against my morals. No matter how hard Yor and Loid try to butter me up, I will never be like them, I'm just an outsider, and I'm solely living to give people the life I never was allowed to have. All those detective missions, if I attend them, and do them, if it means I can see people smile, then I'm more than fine. Maybe I lost my true smile a little too early.

"Thank you," I said, putting on a daily fake smile as Yor smiled back. We walked together as we finally made our way in front of George's house. Yor smiled and waved goodbye before leaving to go back home. I waved back before I knocked on the door knob. After a few minutes of waiting, a women opened the door.
