"HERE LIES THE DAUGHTER OF FREDRICK AND LILLIANA VARLING, THEIR PRECIOUS CHILD, CLEMENTIA VARLING, FOR SHE WAS A DAUGHTER, A SISTER, A..."
The person could go on and on, but what was the point? It wouldn't affect the sum. It was a rainy day, the rain was harsh and cruel. Each droplet felt like rocks were being thrown on the individual.
There weren't many people at the funeral, just the family and close friends. Hikari, Demetrius, and George were there as well.
Umbrellas were held up high, and everyone looked at the body with saddened and lifeless eyes. Emily couldn't take her eyes off the gravestone, re-reading the name over and over again. Perhaps it was just her not wanting to believe that her sister was truly dead.
Maybe, she was just in a dream, following in an unknown and cruel facade, and all she had to do was wake up. So she pinched herself, she flinched. She pinched herself again, and slightly hissed in pain.
George then looked down, and gently grabbed her hand and moved it away from Emily's arm. He was signaling to her that it wasn't a dream, as his eyes were filled with sadness. Although George had never met Clementia, he knew the impact she had on Emily.
He knew how much Emily looked up to her, he knew how Emily had loved her sister so much she would do anything for her. She was everything to Emily, but the question he himself asked, "What would you do when everything is taken away from you? You have nothing,"
George understood the feeling of loneliness more than anyone, yet, he couldn't understand it on a level that Emily was feeling. Emily had lost someone forever. Perhaps, when she herself also passes, the next time she would be seeing Clementia, was when she had succumbed to her death as well, and maybe in the afterlife they will be able to see each other.
But in this world, they aren't anything anymore. They're just distant strangers who are taking different paths. For Emily was moving forward with life, while Clementia was slowly walking into the afterlife.
A huge barrier had separated them, as one walked north while the other walked south. The never-ending path.
George knew loneliness, but his parents would come back for visits, for Emily, she couldn't even say goodbye.
She couldn't even understand how her dear sister had come to her death. How had she died? There was no evidence of anything, and there was nothing the detectives could start off from. It couldn't be helped, no one could help them. They didn't even try to help.
They didn't even spare a glance at the Varlings, since they were only mere commoners. They didn't care what happened to them.
The funeral soon ended, as Emily's mother weakly walked over to Emily, "Emily, dear, would you like to go home now?"
Their house wasn't far, it was probably a twenty minute walk. Emily shook her head, as she wanted to stay, Hikari had to leave as her parents were ordering for her to come home. Demetrius had excused himself, since he had to leave on orders of his father.
George didn't have parents that always ordered for him to do things, so he was free. Emily weakly stared at the name, as the rain was pouring. Everything was gray, mud arose. The sky was a dirty blue color, and clouds were light gray, cluttering the sky.
George didn't know how to start a conversation, he didn't know what to say. What could he possibly say? Emily's sister had just passed, and she didn't know who had done it. Rage, sadness, shock was over. She just felt numb. She didn't know how to react.
Emily then dropped her umbrella, as it harshly splashed onto the puddle. George was alerted by the sudden movement, as Emily was quickly getting soaked. Emily then fell to her knees, as she put her head down into the mud, and started to bow.
