K E E Y A

The sound of the pouring rain whispered soothingly around me as I continued to eat a much-needed lunch, since I skipped out on breakfast to get here earlier. Usually I would make sure I was up with enough time to get something in my system before I rolled out, especially with how much I smoked, but being here this early was not planned.

I was originally not supposed to be coming in until my shift later on, but Sebastian called for us to come in earlier since the club was being rented on short notice, which meant Dantae practically dragged me up out my sleep. Sleep that I needed desperately since I had only went to bed four hours prior.

The girls was already here, but not for the event tonight, they weren't needed, and thankfully security wasn't required either since the people renting had their own for whatever party they planned to throw.

Really the best part about today.

The sound of the door opening behind me cut my running my mind short, and had me looking towards the back door to see a closed umbrella being pushed through, and then, Compulsion, wearing her usual frown. As she closed the door, her eyes immediately ticked to me and I gave a smile that was only aided by the reminder of our over the phone interaction last night.

"Sebastian here?"

"Good morning," I greeted, ignoring her question as she placed her umbrella to the side with her eyes still on me.

"Good morning, Keys," She replied as she moved closer to me.

"He not here, he went to do sumn, but he should be back soon," I answered and she sighed, looking irritated. "You good?"

"I'm good," She uttered, clearly lying, but I wasn't gon push because she wasn't the type to answer just because you constantly asked if she already planned on not speaking...and by the look on her face I can tell she ain't planned to speak on it. "Water here?"

"In that box right there, the plastic they was in broke, so the Dwayne had to toss them in there," I answered and she nodded, walking past me to go to said box and I couldn't help but take her in as she did. Them long braids with them jeans, white sleeveless crop top and slides just...she made shit look good, had that natural confidence about her I liked. One that said 'I don't give a fuck about what anybody got to say' even on the rare days that she do. "He tell you the club closed tonight?"

"Yeah," She answered as she stood straight once again before turning and leaning against the counter with the bottle of water in hand.

"So you free tonight?"

"Why you wanna know all that?"

"Because I'm free," I answered and she rolled her eyes while moving off the counter to make her way back over to me. I watched as she did, growing amused at the thought of whatever attitude she was coming with as she finally stood in front of me, placing her water on the table.

"And what that got to do with me?" She asked as I brought a couple fries to my mouth, chewing with a smile as I leaned back into my chair, looking up at her.

"How you gon text me at them sneaky ass hours, and then come in here today acting like I'm a stranger?"

"I ain't text you on no sneaky type shit,"

"I know," I said, smiling, as her attitude turned all the way up to genuine annoyance. "But I was on your mind real late,"

"Keys don't irritate me," She said and I snickered.

"I'm playing with you, why you so serious?"

"Because I'm already irritated and you tryna be funny," She said, lifting her bottle and pointing it towards me.
