The orb was cold against her skin, a steady hum vibrating beneath her touch. It pulsed with an unseen energy that promised to unveil a forgotten past.
Her fingers tightened around the orb, the sheer cold biting into her skin. The world around her dissolved, replaced by an onslaught of memories. Memories that weren't hers, or were they? They were disjointed, fragments of a life she couldn't remember living.
As the deluge of memories ebbed, she found herself back in the cell, her phone in her hand. Freyr, Xenon, and Cleo were on the screen, their expectant faces staring back at her.
"Dad," she began, her voice cracking slightly. The weight of her forgotten past still settled heavily on her shoulders. "I think... I think it worked."
"Well, that's good news!" Freyr exclaimed, clapping his hands together in relief. "I thought for sure it was going to explode or something."
"But it didn't," Y/n retorted, rolling her eyes. She could feel the corners of her mouth twitching upwards. Her humor was still intact, it seemed.
"Anyway," Freyr said, a hint of seriousness creeping into his voice. "Now, it's time to introduce yourself."
Her brows furrowed at the sudden shift in mood. A wave of confusion washed over her. "What do you mean? You guys know me."
"No, Y/n. Introduce yourself to them," Freyr motioned towards the fourth wall, a playful glint in his eyes.
And with a sardonic grin and a grand flourish, Y/n launched herself into her monologue.
"Hello readers, I am Y/n. Welcome to the wonderful tale of my life sucks."

AUTHOR'S NOTE (please read)
Welcome, welcome! Thanks for clicking on this story and deciding to give it a shot. Before we begin, let me get a few things out of the way:
— Genshin Impact and all its wonderful characters belong to Hoyoverse. Except for Y/n and a few original characters, who I'm happy to say are entirely my own creation (for better or for worse).
— Now, I must warn you, this is my first foray into the world of fanfiction, so please don't judge me too harshly if the plot is wonky or my grammar is less than perfect. English may not be my first language (I mean, I failed it in school), but I promise to do my best to keep it readable. Please keep in mind that my writing skills are as consistent as Tartaglia's aim, but hey, I'm learning!
