Chapter Thirty Nine.
Clayton was scheduled for his execution that same week; I assumed Ben wanted to get him out of the way as quickly as possible. I woke up that morning feeling slightly sick, maybe it was because I hadn't fed in a month or maybe it was because I was about to witness the man who made me who I am die. Either way it made it hard to even want to eat breakfast, I dressed in a black dress that had long sleeves and went to my ankles. Ben wore a pair of jeans and a black shirt.
"Ready to go?" he asked me, I nodded and he took my hand and we began our walk to the infirmary. Ben seemed a little too happy but I on the other hand was not.
"You okay?" Ben asked, I nodded even though I wasn't. Ben had this tendency to worry about me even when it wasn't necessary. "You don't have to lie."
"It's just a lot to take in, I mean. Clayton is going to die today, he'll be gone and it's hard to wrap my head around it," I responded, Ben squeezed my hand reassuringly but it didn't give me any relief.
"You know it's for the best right? If he didn't die, if he was let go to do whatever it is he does he would harm someone else or come after you again. This is for the best," Ben said, he wrapped his arm around me.
We made it to the infirmary and were led to the back and into a room. There were two guards, Gage and Ruckus already present in the room. They all bowed their heads in a formal greeting and then turned back to looking at the doctor and Clayton. Clayton was strapped down onto a metal hospital bed, he had his eyes closed but must have sensed my gaze because he snapped them open and stared at me.
"My love, come to see me off I see," Clayton whispered, Ben growled but I ignored it and got closer to the bed. Clayton's bruises were healing so I assumed Ben hadn't tried to beat the crap out of him lately but he looked paler than usual and his eyes were sunken. It was probably due to the fact that he hasn't had blood in a while.
"Don't call me that," I mumbled, he rolled his vivid blue eyes and then gave me a toothy smile. There was no cruelty in it, just sadness and it made me realize that if he hadn't always been a crazy maniac, maybe we could've been friends.
"But you are my love, come here to me," Maybe it was because he was dying, or maybe it was because he was using my mind in his sick mind plays but I got closer and went to his side. "Amith, I have done nothing but love you since I set my eyes on you. I am going to die by your hand but it was to be expected. Remember, you can never kill your creations but the creations can always kill you."
I was shocked and Clayton looked me dead in the eye and I felt true sadness for him, he gave me one last smile before leaning back and closing his eyes. Ben came and pulled me into his side and the doctor began to explain what was going to happen. Gage grabbed my hand and held it tightly in his grip; I squeezed it and snuggled closer to Ben.
"I will inject this into his blood stream; it has a very high potency of silver and should kill him within five minutes. It will not be entirely painless but it is not a cruel way to go, whenever you are ready Alpha," the doctor whispered, she looked at Ben and I could see her gray eyes looking at him with lust. I cleared my throat and she looked in my direction, I sent her a glare and then growled at her. Training her eyes on the floor she began to prep the materials.
"We are ready, begin doctor," Ben whispered, the doctor grabbed the needle and picked up the loose side of the IV. She put the needle in and injected it, the silver went through the tube and then into Clayton's arm. He was quiet at first but his face scrunched up in pain and then he began to groan loudly.
