Rob's POV:
I woke up when something moved under my arm. I was automatically hugging her tighter to me when my mind caught up with me. "Oh" I said, my face turned red "Uhh, good morning", I added. She sat up and looked at me "Good morning", she blushed as well. "I'm sorry, I must have fallen asleep", she said apologetically, heading towards the door. "Don't worry about it. I guess the show wasn't exciting enough after all to keep us up all night" I smiled at her and she returned it. "Well see you around I guess", she said, one hand on the door already. "Wait. It's Saturday, care to join me for breakfast? We could order something from room service if you'd like." "Rob, I'm not sure... I wanna be honest with you, I'm wondering if we're crossing a line here, I mean... you know what I mean - " "I know.", I interrupted her, "but I think we mustn't worry as much, as long as we're having a good time...I mean it's not like anything happened between us and it doesn't hurt anyone to spend time together as friends, right?"
Kristen's POV:
Friends. He said friends. I don't know why that hit me so hard. What did I expect him to say? I swallowed. "Sure, you're right.", I replied, faking a smile. After having breakfast on his suite's terrace together I asked him if he had any plans for the weekend except preparing for work. "Not really, I was thinking about maybe visiting Superior Lake. Something outdoors, it's so sunny today. How about you?" "Hmm I always wanted to go horseback riding through the woods, but I don't know if that's possible anywhere around here.", I replied. "Sounds kind of exciting, let's ask Google", he said, pulling out his phone. 20 minutes and one phone call later he had arranged a guided horseback riding tour for us with a BBQ around a campfire under the stars afterwards. "They were fully booked for today, but I figured tomorrow would work for us as well", he said. "Oh my gosh that sounds great, thanks!!! Today we could go to Lake Superior then and maybe have a picnic there if you don't mind me joining...." "Sounds perfect.", he smiled at me exactly like he did back in the days. Shit. I never got over him. It became clear to me that I had lied to myself and everyone around me for years. He really was the only one who could ever make me feel that way and it would probably stay him forever. Fuck. I'm deep in the shit again. Years of therapies for nothing. A fiancé who deserves so much better. Dang it Kristen, I thought to myself. You really messed up your life. He noticed my sudden mood swing: "What is it?", he looked worried. "Uhh, nothing, when are we leaving?". I might as well enjoy his company while it lasted....
The weekend passed and if felt like old times except minus the kisses, the touches, the couple stuff so to speak. But when I went to bed on Sunday, I fell asleep with a happy heart.
