I shivered as I slipped out the door. It seemed colder than usual. Trying to ignore the feeling, I pushed on, pulling my hood over my head as I  shifted into my angel form.

Whispering voices seemed to echo through the shadows as I walked.

Leave me alone, I thought, knowing well that the sinister angel in my mind could hear me.

My only reply was an echoing chuckle that rang in my head.

I coughed, and leaned against a wall as I threw up more blood. My form faltered, but I managed to keep my angelic state mostly visible. My breathing was heavy, and I was stuck in a cold, clammy sweat, but I continued onward.

Finally I made it to the alley intersection. Larux wasn't there yet. Thank goodness for that, too, because I vomited more.

What is happening to me? I thought wearily. I could barely take it.

I straightened up as a cold breeze rushed through the alley. Thankful, I changed back to my demon form. Larux materialized from shadow in front of me. He tilted his head when he saw me.

"Is something wrong?" He asked.

Damn it.

"No, nothing," I sighed, "I've just had a headache for a bit now. It's nothing, probably just the light getting to me."

Larux took a sharp, agitated inhale. "Very well then. How's the mission?"

I realized I really hadn't made much progress with the mission this week. I was mostly either exploring the castle or trying not to lose my mind.

"N-not as great as I wanted..." I cleared my throat awkwardly, "But I've managed to get to know how to get around the castle grounds, and as far as I know no one knows about me."

There was no way I was about to tell him about Krel. He would hunt her down and kill her - or worse.

Still I found myself surprised that I cared so much.

Larux sighed, muttering something under his breath before saying, "Well, you better step it up. We don't have forever to do this, and you seem to be taking much to long!"

"S-sorry," I said, looking down to avert his gaze.

Larux grabbed my arm. "Look at me, Omen."

I looked at him as he said.

"Sornax will not hesitate to pull you from the mission if you mess up," Larux growled, "And if it was up to me, you'd be back home by now. You don't do a great job of hiding it when something is very wrong."

I bit my lip, trying not to say anything. I felt no pain, even as my sharp teeth cut through the skin, washing blood over my tongue.

"So you have to let us in soon. Or you know what happens."

I nodded stiffly.

Larux let go of me. I rubbed my arm where he had gripped it.

"Now go," Larux growled, "I'll see you next week."

Another blow of the cold wind, and he disappeared.

Larux rematerialized a few blocks away.

His powers to transport himself through shadow and wind was quite limited. He couldn't go prolonged distances that way.

Quite inconvenient when you're trying to get out of a city full of people who wanted you dead.

Larux stood for a moment, looking around as he regained his strength. His energy was easily drained while he used his power.

Footsteps. Larux snapped his head in the direction he heard them. He saw no one, but he sensed their presence.

He wouldn't have many escape routes if he was outmatched. He could fly, but he would definitely be spotted. He'd have to try and use the shadows. Hopefully he had enough in him to get a good distance away.

Another noise, and he immediately tried to dematerialize.

But was suddenly visible as he was thrown back to the spot he had previously stood in.

Larux yelped in surprise as he hid the ground, his tail lashing angrily as he tried to get up, but was stopped by a spear pointed at his throat.

An Angel stood over him, specifically the army captain, Kyrlas.

"You lost?" Kyrlas said almost threateningly.

Larux snarled, and started to back up, but another spear jabbed into his back. Another angel had come from behind. Larux looked around, realizing that he was surrounded on all sides.

"Oh, Satan," Larux swore.
