Sola’s POV

“You still thinking? Why don’t you just do whatever your heart was telling you?” Halos mapatalon sa gulat si Gaile dahil sa presensiya ko.

She was just looking at Franco’s number. I was just frustrated looking at her. I don’t even know why I’m helping her. I just really want her to do things that she really wants. I know she act like she’s happy now but there’s still a piece in her head that wanted to tell Franco. To say her final goodbye to Franco.

“Is it really fine?” mahinang bulong niya. Ngumiti ako sa kaniya at tumango.

“It is.” Napakagat na lang siya sa kaniyang labi bago tinawagan ang numero sa kaniyang cellphone. Wala pang ilang segundo’y agad din siyang napaayos ng upo. Mukhang sinagot na ang kaniyang tawag.

“I-it’s Gaile…” mahinang saad niya.

“I know…” anang lalaki mula sa kabilang linya. I didn’t heard it at all but it was written on the book. Unti-unting nadadagdagan ng letra ang libro. Napaawang ang labi ko roon at hindi maiwasan ang mamangha.

“How are you?” Franco’s voice was also trembling hearing her voice.

“I’m doing good. What about you?” Napangiti na lang ako nang magsimula silang magkwentuhan tungkol sa ganap sa kanilang mga buhay. Mayamaya lang ay natahimik na si Gaile. Ngumiti lang ako sa kaniya bago siya hinawakan sa kaniyang kamay. Binalik niya rin naman ang ngiti ko sa kaniya.

“The truth is… I called you because I want to tell you something…” mahinang saad ni Gaile.

“Hmm, tell that to me in person. Where are you?” tanong nito.

“I don’t think I can still see you… I just want you to know that I like you too, Franco… Those days I spend with you was the happiest day of my life. You… You make my darkest night a brightest one… You are the most precious person to me… I love you, Franco…” Natahimik ang kabilang linya. Napangiti na lang ako nang mabasa ang nakasulat sa libro.

Natahimik si Franco matapos marinig ang mga kataga mula kay Gaile. He was glad that he made Gaile feel that way. His heartbeat was beating to fast that he can’t even hear any noise from those talents he was holding.

 

“I’m going to you… I want to see you…” ani Franco subalit agad siyang pinutol ni Gaile.

 

“Hindi tayo puwede, Franco… I’m dying… Kaunting araw na lang ang mayroon ako…” Franco stopped for a while. He feel like something stabbing his heart but he wouldn’t want to missed those days that he can still spend on her.

 

“It doesn’t matter anymore, Gaile. Spend the rest of your days with me. Let’s live together…” Napapaos ang tinig ni Franco nang sambitin ‘yon.

 

Gaile who was trying her best to full herself together finally let out a cry.
