ALEX TOO A SIP OF HER COFFEE AS SHE SAT ACROSS FROM Gwen. It had been one month since she had first attended Midtown. And she was fitting in.

"You never told me your dad worked at Oscorp. Is that why you're deciding to be an intern there?" Alex glanced at Gwen, who brought the coffee mug to her lips with a smirk.

"No, No. I figured I could use the experience, that is, if I want to pursue biochemistry." Alex always had a passion for science. She found that she was following in her dad's footsteps of going into the field of science.

It was nearing the end of October, and the faster the school year began to fly, the more Alex thought about her future. She wanted to get into a good college and pursue biochemistry.

"I didn't think you were into science," Gwen started. "You looked more like an English or Psychology major." Alex scoffed and laughed at the blonde, who also laughed.

"Don't let Peter hear you laugh. You might make him go crazy. I know he likes you." With an eye roll, Alex sighed. Gwen had been teasing Alex about Peter for an entire month. Since the three of them had been formally hanging out, Gwen took any chance she got to ship the two of them.

"Gwen. You have to stop this. Why are you so fixed on Peter and me? I've only been here for a month!" The girl exclaimed.
"Besides," she continued. "I think he likes you, honestly." As Gwen and Alex sat outside near the little café in the city

"Oh, come on, Alex! You're so oblivious. Do you see the way he looks at you? It doesn't take much. It's like he turns to mush when you come around." Alex waved her hand at Gwen while she tried to hide her smile.

She'd be lying if she said he wasn't cute. Peter Parker was adorable. He was the sweet type of awkward. He would get embarrassed quickly and stutter like a madman for no reason.

Alex found it cute when blood would rush to his cheeks whenever she laughed at something he said or looked at him.

"I think the two of you would be cute. You two love science. He almost looks enchanted by you." Alex merely brushed off Gwen's words, but neither Gwen nor Alex had seen or heard from Peter since last week.

The boy had gone MIA on both of them. They didn't know if he was skipping school or going through something with his aunt and uncle. Whenever Alex attempted to talk to him, he would blow her off and give some lame excuse.

"Well," Gwen rose from her seat, swinging her purse over her shoulder as she looked at her phone. "I've got to get to work. I hope you get the job at Oscorp. It'll be fun working together." Alex gave Gwyn a bright smile before nodding.

"It will. I'll see you later, Gwen." When Alex and Gwen parted ways, Alex took the subway home. Going straight up to her room and closing the door, the rest of her day was spent finishing up homework assignments and looking at a few colleges.

After school, Alex didn't know if she wanted to stay in New York or up and leave. She knew her parents would have a fit if she were to leave the state. Like most parents, they feared Alex going too far and out of sight.

But they knew that if she decided to leave. They couldn't stop her. Alex had pulled out her laptop to check if anything had come back from Oscorp Industries.

When she scrolled through her email, she felt something leap in her stomach as she looked at the email back from Oscorp Industries.
That's when a smile made its way onto her face. The girl squealed with excitement before tossing her laptop on her bed and rushing downstairs. "Mom! Dad!" Mr. and Mrs. Matthews jumped up, their eyes nearly popping out of their heads as they looked at their daughter.

"I got the job! At Oscorp! I got the job as an intern. I'll be
working with Dr. Connors's dad!" She cried, and both her parents had a look of adoration on their faces as they looked at their daughter.

"I'm proud of you, hon. You'll be working alongside your old man. How about that?" Alex felt her dad's arms wrap firmly around her as he hugged her. At the same time, her mom planted a kiss on top of her forehead.

To celebrate, Alex's parents offered to take her out to dinner. They settled on a nice Italian restaurant in Brooklyn. Sitting around her parents, she adjusted to her new life in New York.

She learned that as long as she had her parents by her side. She'd be fine. There were times when she missed California and the little friends she had, but she could always go back.

"We are proud of you, Alex. I told you this move would be great. Look at you, my little scientist." Her mom gushed.
There was just one thing left to do. Tell Gwen and Peter if Peter decides to ever talk to her again.
