IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. THE WORDS 'I LOVE YOU' WERE WRITTEN IN WEBS. Alex laughed to herself as she looked at the words. She could feel her eyes glossing over. A crowd was forming around the other side of the bridge, admiring the phrase. She watched as Peter came swinging down before scooping her up. She let out a short gasp as she found herself in the air.

They landed on top of the bridge. She felt the wind in her hair, and her cheeks flushed from the chilly weather. "Hi." Peter breathlessly remarked he had taken off his mask and left with his messy brown hair.

"Hi there." She mumbled.

"Did you get my message?" Alex tapped her finger against her chin, pretending to ponder. "I don't know, Pete. What message?"

"The message right there, the one you were looking at. Do I need to make it bigger for you?" Alex giggled at his expression.

"Oh! Was that you? I couldn't make it out, honestly." Peter rubbed his nose against hers. He was holding her closer than he had in the past few months.

"I'll tell you what it says. "I love you." Because I love you, Alex, and no offense, but you're wrong. You're wrong about us being on different paths. We're not on different paths. You're my path."

Alex rubbed his cheek with the pad of her thumb as she listened to him profusely profess how much he loved her.

"And you're always going to be my path. And I know there are a million reasons why we shouldn't be together. I know that. But I'm tired of them. I'm tired of every single one of them."

"I've been tired of them. You know how much I love you. I don't care about the things keeping us apart. We belong together." Alex Matthews knew she was in love, she could hear it in the silence and she could see it with the lights out, and she could feel it with her entire being.

She was in love, true love. Alex was irrevocably in love with Peter Parker and she would be until the end of time.

"We've all gotta make a choice. Right? Well, I choose you. I've been thinking, California, the both of us, I'll follow you. I'll follow you anywhere you go. They've got crime in California, right?"

Alex nodded. "Definitely. They have birthed some of the most notorious Serial Killers. There's bound to be more crime in the making."

The moment was cut short when Peter noticed the entire city begin to black out. "What the hell?" Alex mumbled. "Is that Max?"

"He must have cut the power to the whole city. Your plane.." He realized if he couldn't get the power back up, Alex would completely miss her flight.

"Don't worry about it."

"There's gotta be some blackout plan, right? Some backup?"

"There's...There's an emergency reset at the power plant. If he cuts the transmission lines, they'll never get this backup. It'll take weeks, possibly months." Alex told him.

"How will I stop him? Every time I get close, he fries my web shooters."

"Well, hot shot. Have you tried grounding them, or did you try magnetizing them?"

"If you magnetize a nail with a battery... It holds an electric charge. Yes, you're a genius." Peter crashed his lips onto hers. Alex smiled into the kiss.

"Let's do this." Peter and Alex returned to the ground and ran to a nearby officer. There was utter chaos when they got to the bottom-People scrambling to get off the streets.

Peter had retrieved the jumper cables and copper wire from a nearby officer. "Alright, I gotta go. Get back home. I'm sure you're parents know what's happening."

"Whoa, Whoa. What do you mean go home? I'm coming with you, Peter." He quickly shook his head. He couldn't take her with him, he had done everything he could to ensure nothing happened to her, but this was where he drew the line.

"No, No. Alex, no, you're not coming with me. It's too dangerous." Alex scowled at him as she crossed her arms. She wasn't some damsel in distress. She might not have had powers or could shoot webs, but she knew she could help somehow.

"I'm coming with you. I know how grid specks work. I worked at Oscrop for a year. Do you know who you're talking to? I'm coming with you. You need me!" Peter slapped his hand over his mouth to shut her up.

"Okay, fine, you're coming with me. Stop yelling. Close the trunk." When Alex went to close the trunk, she snapped her head up to see her hand webbed to the trunk of the car. Alex was fuming.

"Sorry. I love you. Don't hate me." He pleaded as he ran in the opposite direction.

"PETER!" Alex, who realized what she had said, shut her mouth and put her hand over his mouth. When Alex got out of webs, she hopped in the unoccupied cop car and made her way to the Power Plant. When she saw Max, she decided to ram into him with the car.

When she did, he went flying. He convulsed before laying still. Peter was busy trying to assess who was in the car when Alex got out of the vehicle and stomped on Peter. He felt a wave of fear wash over him.

"You webbed me to a car?!" He could hear that there was a hint of amusement in her voice. In contrast, Peter was not amused in the slightest.

"You shouldn't be here, Alex. You really and truly should not be here! I mean, this is insane." Alex ignored him, and she was mildly upset that Peter continued to make choices for her.

"Shut it! You tie me up to go off to war? I know how to help you!
I know the grid specs. I can reset the system! And you know what? Nobody makes my decisions for me. All right? Nobody. This is my choice, okay? My choice. This is mine." She told him fiercely.

Peter concluded that there was no arguing with her. Alex had her mind made up, "Now, how do we stop him?" Alex and Peter were slowly backing up near the Power Plant.

"Okay, so he's electric. He's like a battery. What happens if you overcharge a battery?"

"It explodes. Common knowledge."

"So we use his power against him." Peter kept Alex behind him with his arm out protectively in front of her. "Okay. I think I can reconnect the power lines. But I need you to reset the system.
Okay, when I say you turn that power on, you turn it on."

Peter watched as she shook her head. "I'm not doing it if you're still up there. No, No."

"No matter what. No matter what." He replied over constantly mumbling.

"Peter, I'm not...."

"Go! Alex, Go!" Alex ran towards the Power Plant. She couldn't kill Peter. She just couldn't. Electro and Peter fought head-to-head as Alex watched from inside the Plant.

It all had to end tonight.
