WHEN PETER AND ALEX ARRIVED AT OSCORP INDUSTRIES, THE BUILDING was a ghost town. They were able to get in with Alex's key card-the perks of working for Oscorp. "So where is everyone? Did he give everyone the day off?" Peter asked, looking around the dark building.
"He did, I guess. Usually, he's here working in his office." Alex took Peter by the hand and guided him throughout the building.
"Hello!" Peter yelled. Alex looked at him like he was crazy before bringing her hand to his mouth, "Don't! We're not even supposed to be in here."
"It's not nice to snoop." Alex and Peter turned around to see Dr. Connors standing on the other side of the room. He was in his white lab coat with his glasses in hand. "Alex? How are you? Shouldn't you be at school?" Alex cleared her throat as she looked at her boss.
"I'm fine, Dr. Connors. I'm sorry that we barged in on you." Alex looked at Peter before pulling him next to her. "This is."
"Peter Parker," He spoke. "We've met. What an excellent mind this young man has, indeed. He might give you a run for your money Miss Matthews." Dr. Connors chuckled.
"How are you, sir? We got a free track. I...I mean, we wanted to ask you a question. How would a predator track a reptile?" Dr. Connors walked towards the two teens before looking between them.
Peter still had his hand in her's. "Oh, they don't. Most reptiles are at the top... of their food chain. Kings of their domain."
"They have vulnerabilities. Don't they?" Alex replied.
"Why the sudden interest in the cold-blooded, Mr. Parker?"
"Just asking a question. I got school stuff.." He mumbled as he trailed off. Dr. Connors squinted his eyes at them. "Well, Biology profiles to do."
"So because of the cold blood... would they react to changes in temperatures?" Peter questioned. Alex and Peter waited for his response.
"You'd have to catch one first, of course." After Dr. Connors rushed them out of the building after telling them he was working on a new project, they took a detour to see Gwens' dad. That didn't go as planned. Peter tried to explain how the lizard on the loose was Dr. Connors.
When they were outside the police department, Alex looked at Peter. "I can't believe it's him. I've been working with him and... I wouldn't have thought."
"When we went to see him, didn't you see he was acting a bit strange?" Alex never gave it much thought. Dr. Connors was always a bit strange regarding his work and science.
"No..I, he's always acted like that. So," Alex looked at him, grabbing his hands. "What's the plan?" Peter held her face in his hands with a smile.
"The plan is you go back to school. You and I both know the Free track is over. I told you, you could help with this, but after that, you're out." Peter looked over at the sewer drain and furrowed his eyebrows.
