Cleo asks to Meet Rikki, Emma, and me at the cafe. so we get there early and order us and Cleo some smoothies. Rikki says "So, where were you last night? Roman said you got home later than usual and you weren't with us." I say "I was uh, at the pier, writing some songs for my setlist." Emma asks "Any done yet?" I shake my head. and Cleo joins and asks us to watch Lewis' fishing competition this year. she says "It'll be fun. plus, I think Lewis would really appreciate our support. Emma?" Emma says "Um," Cleo says "Come on. Rikki, how about it?" Rikki says "Oh, fish hooks make me nervous, especially lately. besides I have plans with Roman." Cleo says "Come on, Madi, please." I say "Sorry, Cleo, I uh, I have some stuff to do today. Speaking of, I should get going. Sorry, Cleo." and I head out of the cafe. on my way out Zane runs in and I bump into him. I stutter "I, uh, I'm sorry." and I quickly run out.

I head to an art gallery that my mom gave me an invitation to. I look around at the amazing art. it's beautiful. then I hear an all too familiar voice ask "Madi?" I look up and see Zane. I say nothing as flashes from the full moon come back to me. he asks "What are you doing here?" I ask "What are you doing here?" he says, "I asked you first?" I ask "What is this? Grade school?" he shakes his head and says "I'm helping my dad with his investment seminar. he's one of the speakers." I say holding up my pamphlet "I noticed." he says "He begged me to come along and play the dutiful son. it's totally boring." I say "You're right there. but the art is beautiful. anyway, it's been riveting." I walk away and he turns and watches me walk away from him.

I continue to walk around looking at art, and I listened in on a few lectures here and there except for Dr. Bennetts. and as I'm walking I run into Zane again. He says "Lunch is that way." I say "Yeah, no, I don't eat gross fancy rich people's food. I'm gonna go get something that might actually fill me for half the price of that crap." he says "Not wrong." then his dad comes over and says "didn't see you inside, Zane. you missed an opportunity. you could have learned something." Zane says "Yeah, I'm sure." his dad says "Why don't you make yourself useful and go up to the suite? I need my notes." Zane says "I'm talking to someone." his dad ignores his comment and says "They're on the table, as you go in." Zane defends "He's a stress head." I say "Sounds like a great dad. not that I could judge that. but why can't your dad go up and get his own notes?" Zane says "Uh, 'cause he's important. And I'm not." I say "Fair enough. Okay, well, I'll catch you later. I'm gonna go get something to eat." I start to walk away and Zane says "Hey, I know where there's some food, heaps of it, upstairs in the suite. the hotel lays it on, for my old man." I say "No, it's okay." I start to walk away again and he says "The fridge is full. I think some of it is even healthy. and if he misses anything, hey, it's good to tick him off." I smile and say "Sure, what the heck." he smiles and we head up to the suite.

when we're up there, I go to the table and find an apple and start to eat it. Zane explains "The hotel gives a room to my dad to stay in, whenever he gives a seminar. it's kind of impressive. if you go for that kind of stuff." I say "Hm, I don't. I came for the art." I go out to the balcony to see the view. Zane stays in the doorway. I smile and say "You could see the mountains from here. Have you seen this?" he says "Yeah, nice." I ask "Are you even looking?" he doesn't say anything and I shake my head and walk further out. he decides to come to join me but doing so made the screen door shut and lock us out. we turn around when we hear the beep. Zane runs to the door and tries to open it. but it won't open. he says "No way. it's locked." I sigh and look around.
