With so much time passing, Sage had reverted to the very tree that both her father and Charge had directed her to since the beginning. Yet even with the comfort of the tree, it did not give her the calmness she craved.
No.
Her breaths may be even and her heart may start to beat less—It did not mean that her body didn't feel the movement of everything surrounding her. That the urge to throw up was gaining.
That was what was worrying—Is it the pup or is it the group within the building?
Sage had already met with the better half of the cellmates that had been deemed too hurt to help, or those that had opted out. And given the fact that the Nymphs of the group were already trying to recharge with the very tree that Sage was planted at now, it was the best decision.
Though, it was interesting to greet another set of Bears—Twins. And it had made her smile at the fact that they were close as could be, offering a glimpse of what she hoped Ronan and Rue would grow into.
But it also allowed her to meet another bear-shifter, of course, Calista may have deemed all males of her kind to be cocky. These two were rather sweet and kept her company—Not to mention helped where they could, hurt as they were.
Even now, her father's pacing just ahead of her was gaining her heart rate up once more. And finally, once it hit its peak, Hayes had taken the liberty to take a seat beside her—Surcoming to the idea that he too, needed to rest. And working up his own stress was doing more harm than good.
He hadn't looked down at Sage, but could feel her gaze all the same. He tried to defuse the idea of a conversation by offering up his bottle of water. One she took but held close to her cheek, liking the coolness it offered against her burning cheeks.
"It's been almost an hour," Hayes whispered out, and Sage once again remained silent, though she hummed as she turned the bottle against her forehead. "They said they'd get there in less than—"
"They have a little map and it's big. Have to be careful, they say there are Dragur. They could be fighting or waiting until safe." She replied, and it did little to nothing to ease her father's worries.
He was about to snap, but one look down at his daughter, he refrained. Not only did she share his own worries about Willow, but she also had Remus and Andrew within those walls—Not to mention her adoptive brothers.
That could render anyone useless to the dooming thoughts, and so he pulled her close, and Sage was too unsettled to protest.
"I might say the wrong things, bubbles, but I do trust Remus for this type of thing. He's a strong male, and even with his faults, I'm happy the Moon Goddess chose him for you. You both deserve more than this." It rendered Sage speechless, and for a moment, she wondered if her father truly meant it—Or if this was the turning point of it all.
When first meeting Hayes, he had already a level of respect for both her and Remus, but things shifted within an instant of finding out the truth about Sage.Receiving word from the blood test.
"Remmy will bring mom back, just have to wait." She repeated in her own words, only then deciding to take a small sip of water. Hoping it wouldn't enact any of the acids in her stomach, goddess, she couldn't wait for this to be done.
"You know...When Harlow told me that Remus found his mate, I never thought—I wouldn't have been able to dream things would go this far."
"That I'm your pup?""All of it, Bubbles. We were living in purgatory for years until you came along, now we're finally moving forward." She let out a firm nod, and with a quick bit of math, she smirked.
