THIRD PERSON POV

y/n was the epitome of sunshine, a kind personality with an even brighter smile. she was perky, optimistic, and happy-go-lucky. she wasn't scared to make new friends, she was outgoing, not a mean look in sight, and incredibly extroverted.

whereas matt, who was timid and withheld, often coming across as rude, uninterested, and stand-offish. he wasn't necessarily mean, he just came across that way because of his social anxiety causing him trouble in public spaces. he was quiet, sometimes emotionless, and almost dissociative. only ever paying attention to his brothers and y/n.

the two met in sophomore year, basically labelling their relationship as high school sweethearts.

FLASHBACK

the girl had barely made it to her class on time, she had just recently transferred from another high school in boston to somerville high, struggling to find her way around the big ass school.

as she entered her first class, she sat directed to the only empty seat in the back row beside one of three boys who looked identical, the other two in front of him. assuming they were triplets, she made her way to the back row. as she sat down, she introduced herself,

"hi i'm y/n." she smiled warmly, earning a stiff nod from the boy beside her as the boys in front of her turned around.

"hi i'm nick and that's matt, he's not very talkative." the boy spoke, smiling at her as the other one snickered.

"and i'm chris."

"hi. do any of y'all have mrs. smith's geography class next?" she asked, leaving the all too redundant "are y'all related?" type of questions alone, having come to that conclusion on her own.

"you're the first new person to not ask if we're triplets," nick laughed as he cocked his head looking at her.

"i kind of deduced that on my own." she replied giggling as chris pulled out matt's schedule from under matt's binder while the morning announcements carried out overhead.

"yeah matt has smith next period."

"do you mind showing me? i barely had any time to learn the layout of the school when i was given my 'tour' the other day." she whispered, looking at matt who kept his eyes trained on hers briefly.

"yeah sure."

FLASHBACK ENDS

after that, y/n became quick friends with nick and chris. however for a while, she was much less than friends with matt, he was stubborn and persistent on not letting her in. but y/n was also stubborn, despite coming across a what one would call a "doormat" because of how kind and easygoing she was.
