I wanted her to trust me, I wanted her to trust that I will never hurt her, I'd go to hell and back before I even thought of hurting her. I wasn't asleep yet put I could tell she was, I heard her breathing slow indicating that she was asleep, as my breathing matched hers. I played with her soft hair finally falling asleep. In the morning I didn't want to get up, she was still sleeping in my arms peacefully, even though I was laying with her, I couldn't stop thinking about her. I had fallen for her, and that's perfectly fine with me. I felt her stir and heard her yawn, indicating she was awake so I hugged her close to me. She hugged me back and let out a comforting breath. She sat up, facing me, and I just took in every detail of her face.

"Good morning," I smiled at her.

"Hi," She gave me a sleepy smile.

"How did you sleep?" I asked her.

"Amazing, better than the past few nights," She smiled.

"Good," I leaned up.

I pulled her closer to me, about to give her a kiss, then my door, swung open, so I panicked and pushed her away and she ended up tumbling off the bed. She broke out into a fit of laughter and I immediately felt bad.

"I WAS COMING TO TELL YOU I'M- why is Ava cackling on the floor?" Nick looked down at Ava.

"He showed me a funny TikTok, that's all," She started to calm down.

"Oh, okay, well yeah I'm leaving BYE!" Nick slammed Matt's door.

"Oh my god Ava I am so sorry, I panicked- I didn't mean to push you, did I hurt you?" I asked frantically.

"Matt, calm down it's alright, you didn't hurt me, I thought it was really funny honestly." She started laughing again.

She came back and sat on the bed and I pulled her close again, looking into her eyes. We leaned in and then someone knocked on my door.

"Oh fucking come on," I grumbled and got up to open it. "What."

"Mom and I are going out, do you need anything?" Chris asked.

"No," 

"Does Ava need anything?" Chris asked.

"No," 

"You didn't even ask her,"

I looked at Ava and she mouthed ice cream causing me to let out a laugh. "Ice cream."

"Oh shit, didn't even think of that, alright, cool see yall later."

I shut the door and turned towards her letting out a huff. She laughed at me and I went to go lay back down on my bed. Ava laid her head on my side and just scrolling on her phone, but had an open hand, so I slowly took her hand and held it while we just laid there in comfortable silence.

"Hey Matt?"

"Hm?" I softly hummed in response.

"How hard do you think it's going to be to hide this?" She asked.

"It'll be hard at first, but I think we could do it." I replied.

"I have faith in us," She said softly.

I smiled to myself, it felt like she trusted me, like she knew that I would do anything to protect her. We laid there for a few more hours, until there was another knock at my door. I got up and opened it, revealing my mom.

"Stop holding Ava hostage," She laughed.

"But I'm not, we're just hanging out." I laughed with her.

"I wanted to know if she would like to go out with me for a while, you know, as like a mother figure." My mom smiled, my heart melted.

I turned to Ava and she was sitting up, grinning. I opened the door so she could walk out and before she left with my mom she gave my hand a squeeze. I watched them go down the stairs and out of the house and then Nick appeared in front of me.

"You like her, I knew it." Nick pointed at me.

"PSSH, no I don't." I rolled my eyes, leaning in my door frame.

"You can't sleep without her, you are always around her now, hell, she was in your room literally all morning just hanging out with her, Matt, stop lying to yourself." Nick laughed.

"I'm not, we're friends, we don't like each other, I don't like her." 

"Liar." 

"No."

"Liar."

"Nick, no."

"Matt, yes."

"FINE. I LIKE HER-" I yelled a little too loud.

"FUCKING FINALLY. HE ADMITS IT." Chris came out of his room.

"Oh for gods sake," I rolled my eyes.

"Matt's in love with Ava, Matt's in love with Ava." They both teased.

"I WOULDN'T SAY IN LOVE, CALM DOWN-" I freaked out.

"Matt is afraid," Nick laughed.

"Why the hell did you say it like that-" I laughed at him.

"Good question-"

This felt nice, the weight was finally off my shoulders keeping my feelings about Ava from my brothers, there is no way they're going to find out we're sort of talking, slight relationship, talking stage, I don't even know what to call it.
