Kunikidazai Oneshots

The Young Master Detective

(A/N: guess who's back, back again? Yes, it is I, your resident Kunikidazai author. I'm here with a request from -m00dyy and basically what happens here is Ranpo gets turned into a child so Dazai and Kunikida look after him. Without further ado, enjoy!)

It was a regular day...until it wasn't.

It had started out normally enough, what with the agency fighting a criminal.

That was when the real trouble started, for the agency had discovered that the criminal was a skill user...with the ability to turn people into children.

Disaster really struck when one of the agency's own was hit with said ability. The victim was none other than Ranpo, and when it happened, naturally the criminal got away since nearly everyone had immediately rushed to see if Ranpo was ok and the few that had continued to fight the criminal didn't make it in time.

Much to everyone's horror, Ranpo had been knocked unconscious.

"Ranpo, wake up!" Yosano urged.

He didn't budge.

"Come on, Ranpo..." Fukuzawa muttered.

This time, Ranpo stirred a little and began to slowly open his eyes.

Kunikida knelt down by Ranpo. "Ranpo..are you ok?"

Ranpo looked up at Kunikida. "I think so..."

Dazai was the next to rush over. "Ranpo!"

"I'm fine," Ranpo assured him.

But that didn't stop Dazai and Kunikida from staying near Ranpo and worrying over him a lot.

Before long, Fukuzawa told everyone to return to the agency and that they'd have to try and catch the criminal some other time.

Everyone did so.

Yosano promptly took Ranpo's hand and led him to her office. She was worried about her friend and decided that she needed to give him a checkup.

While she did so, everyone else tried to work but found it hard due to their worry.

A little later, Yosano emerged from her office with Ranpo. "Alright, guys. So I'd once heard of that ability user before, and the good news is that this shouldn't last too long. About forty-eight hours at the most, and then Ranpo will be back to normal."

Everyone was relieved, but also determined to look out for Ranpo as best as they could. Dazai and Kunikida especially made a point of doing so.

Ranpo had quickly found that he didn't mind Dazai and Kunikida sticking by him. In fact, he really liked it. Something about those two really made Ranpo feel safe and cared for. Ranpo decided that it was at least partially because everyone (rightfully) referred to Kunikida as the agency's mom.

Even when Kunikida returned to his desk to do work, Ranpo continued to trail him like a little shadow.

As always, Dazai wasn't working. But he also stayed near Ranpo and Kunikida. He knew he wasn't the best with kids, but he felt protective over his coworker.

Ranpo tapped on Kunikida's arm.

Kunikida paused his work and glanced at Ranpo.

"When will you be done with that boring-looking stuff?" Ranpo asked.

"If by boring-looking stuff, you mean paperwork, I should probably be done soon," Kunikida replied.

"Yay!"
