Dazai's Birthday

A/N: guess who's back? Yes, I know it's been awhile. I decided to write a birthday fic for Dazai since I didn't get a chance to last year. Without further ado, enjoy!

Kunikida had come to a decision.

Dazai's birthday was coming up soon, and Kunikida decided that he was going to do something about it.

For once, he was glad that his boyfriend had decided to skip work because it meant he could bring his idea up to everyone else.

He looked around to check and see if everyone else was here. Perfect, he thought.

"Something up, Mr. Kunikida?" Atsushi asked.

"I'm glad you asked, kid. Yes. I have an idea to propose to you all," Kunikida replied.

"Oh?"

"You'll see."

Kunikida waited until everyone was in the room, and then he began to explain things. "Alright, so we all know Dazai's birthday is coming up, right?"

Everyone nodded.

"I was thinking maybe we could throw him a surprise party."

"That's assuming he shows up," Ranpo commented.

"Fair point. Maybe I can persuade him to."

"If he's going to listen to anyone, it's you."

"I have found that to be true."

"So yeah, I think you can convince him."

"I hope so." Kunikida looked around, just to make sure Dazai wasn't hiding somewhere and hearing all of this.

Once he was completely sure that wasn't the case, he and the rest of the agency members began to plan for the surprise party.

"Hopefully he'll never see it coming," Atsushi spoke up.

"Yeah, it needs to be the best surprise ever!" Kenji agreed.

"I doubt he will. He may be smart, but not as much as me," Ranpo commented.

Yosano playfully poked Ranpo. "Yes, we're all aware."

Ranpo grinned.

By the time almost everything had been planned, Dazai finally showed up. He headed straight to Kunikida. "Heeeeellllloooooo."

Kunikida looked up from his paperwork. "Dazai. I'm surprised you actually showed up."

Dazai pretended to be offended. "I'll have you know I show up sometimes."

"More like barely."

Dazai pouted.

Kunikida laughed a little and patted Dazai's head.

Dazai smiled. "So, anything exciting happen while I was gone?"

"Nope," Kunikida replied.

Yosano and Ranpo exchanged knowing smirks.

"Oh, nice. Just goes to show work is boring," Dazai remarked.

"Well, you should still show up."

"Nah."

"Dazai."

"Kunikida."

"My point still stands."

"Fiiiiiiiinnnnnneeeeeeeeee..."

The next few days passed by pretty uneventfully, and then Kunikida had another idea.

He was going to bake a cake for Dazai. The only problem was...how was he going to do that with Dazai around? And then how was he going to hide the cake from him?
