The Party Scene (Jalex)

21. Him

[ A l e x ]

"You doing okay man?" Jack asks me, taking about five energy drinks out of the big fridge. He makes carrying two armfuls of junk food look easy.

"I'm alright" I nod, still unsure about skipping school and very confused about this mornings 'encounter' with Jack.

"You sure? You're acting kinda off" He sets the food on the checkout counter and hands the red haired woman a twenty. He lowers his voice "If this is about school, don't worry. I skip all the time, it's not a big deal"

"I'm alright, Jack" I twist my hair around my finger, letting out a sigh.

The woman hands him a bag and his change. Jack smirks "Are you tired, Alex?"

I nod

"Do you wanna go back to Rian's house, you can take a nap"

"I'll be fine Jack. You guys do whatever you want, I'll just kinda follow"

He shakes his head and leads me out to the parking lot where Rian and Zack are waiting. "Rian, we're gonna go back to your house"

"What why?" He asks, Zack elbows him

"It's not a big deal man. Your parents don't get home until after you get home from school anyway. They wont know"

Jack nods "Come on, Alex" He hands the bag to Zack and grabs my hand through the sleeve of his sweater. My heart skips a beat and though I really am tired I could just about run a mile right now. My cheeks turn pink again. After all this time I'm still not used to Jack always making me blush.

He squeezed my hand. I barely ever saw his hands, they were always covered by his sweaters. Jack has such nice hands, and I'm glad I get to hold them, even if theres a layer of fabric between his and mine.

His face turns that irresistible shade of pink.

How amazing is it that I've known him for such a small amount of time but he's already become the most important thing in my life.

Sometimes he really makes me think that I might be able to make it.

It may not be forever, but for now, him
