*Alex's POV*
'Funny' thing about people, most of them don't care how you feel. It's a sad lesson and, don't get me wrong, there are people out there who would stop the earth from spinning just to make you happy. Let me tell you, it's not a walk in the park to listen to a class full of people talk shit about someone who doesn't deserve it. In fact, it's one of the worst feelings, you want to just scream at them to shut up but then you know you'll hear about it, and if you don't say anything then you feel so guilty for the rest of the week. God I wish I had the guts to say something to them. Isn't school just great.

I try not to stare at the skunk haired boy as he looks through his locker, mulling over what I'm going to say in my head.
'Dude, just don't listen to them'
No
'They're just saying this stuff to piss you off'
Nope
'Just ignore them'
Oh my God, why can't I think of anything to say to the poor guy!? It's probably not going to help but at least it's letting him know that I'm here for him... Dammit. I just don't understand how he can go from Mr.PopularAndEveryoneLovesMe to Mr.PleaseLeaveMeAlone? Whatever he did, nobody deserves to be the center of all this negativity.
"Hey, dude, don't listen to them, they're all pricks" Did that just come out of my mouth?
"Yeah, thanks... Ummm not to make this awkward but could I maybe sit with you at lunch... You're like the only one who isn't trying to threaten me?" He asks nervously
"Sure, I guess I'll see you at lunch"
"Thanks..."

By the time lunch rolled around Jack had a black eye, he must've gotten punched in the last forty-five minutes. He sits down next to me and looks around, everybody seems to be staring at us.
"If you don't mind me asking, what happened with you?" I hope I don't sound nosy.
"Well..." Oh shit he doesn't want to talk about it oh god what have I done "Can I tell you later? I just don't want everyone to see it... Not that they don't already know" See it? What. I just thought he pissed people off by declining a few party invitations.
The weird thing is, he doesn't seem like a bad guy. Not at all.
"Do you want to come over?" I blurt out. Oh gosh why am I so nervous around him? I sound like a complete idiot!
"Yeah, sure" He smiles "Can I meet you in the back parking lot after school? I've got to help in the office for last period"
"Sure" I nod. Wow... That smile...
*Jack's POV*
"Do you want to come over?" Why is he being so nice to me? He doesn't know me. I guess I should be thankful for him while he's still here because after he sees why everyone turned against me, he'll leave. I don't know why I trust him so much, but he seems pretty genuine. At least he's trying to be nice.
"Yeah sure... Can I meet you in the back parking lot after school? I've got to help in the office for last period" Help in the office? More like get dragged into the counseling center because someone told one of the counselors that I've been having 'issues'
"Sure. Sound's good" He nods and heads off to his next class. Thank God school's over in a few hours, one day of torment done.
