Am I the asshole for wanting my father in law to walk me down the aisle?

(Arthur Weasley x future child in law)

I, 25 female/male/enby, am engaged to the love of my life Charlie, 28 male, and we're planning our wedding with my SIL, Fleur who's my maid of honor, her husband Bill and Charlie and Bill's father, Arthur.

My parents died when I was young and the only family I've ever known was Charlie's, so I thought that it was only appropriate to ask Arthur if he'd walk me down the aisle. Arthur had happily agreed until Molly (His wife and Charlie's mother).

Molly claims that Ginny (Charlie's youngest sibling and only sister) should be the only girl that Arthur walks down the aisle as Ginny is his real daughter. Molly says that I should just grow up and walk myself.

Molly and Ginny have never liked any females that come into the men of the family's life. They constantly insult, and berate any girl that comes home with their sons and refer to them as temporary harlots. Fleur also endured the same treatment when she dated and married Bill.

They also claimed that it was bad enough that I didn't include Ginny in the wedding party, but to ask Arthur to be in it was both out of the question and insult to injury.

Charlie and I both agreed on a minimum of three bridesmaids and groomsmen. We based it on who we'd love to be by our sides on our big day. I wanted Fleur and my friends Margery and Lenore by my side while Bill wanted his brother Bill and his friends Isaac and Marcus.

I didn't pick Ginny because I'm not close with her and I'd rather have the three girls who have been by my side and supporting both me and my relationship with Charlie.

The problem is that Arthur is torn between pleasing his wife and daughter and doing right by me and Charlie. It's a lose-lose situation for him and I feel awful for putting him there. I never anticipated this reaction from Molly and Ginny.

So am I the asshole for asking Arthur to walk me down the aisle?
