AITA for trying to blend my family?

I, 38 female, was a single mother to Isabella/Bella, 17 female, and Isaac and Rebecca/Becca, 14 male and female. But I recently got married to Phil, 35 male, who has a daughter from a previous relationship Alexis, 17 female.

We've been trying to end our family for months now, but Alexis hasn't made it easy.

Alexis seems to hate Bella and I for some odd reason and prefers Isaac and Becca.

I thought that it was because they were younger and naive that she bonded with them easier, and she just needed more time to adjust.

However, her most recent behavior has been the last straw for me.

It started when we first moved in together we got a three bedroom and two bathroom house. There was the master bed and bath that was obviously for Phil and me. Then there was the large secondary bedroom and the third bedroom which was smaller.

I originally wanted Bella and Alexis to share the bigger bedroom and for the twins to share the smaller one. Alexis opted out of that and suggested sharing a room with the twins. I was completely against this idea despite everyone else being on board with it (Bella was just happy to have her own room).

I had argued that she was being mean to Bella by not sharing a room with her which she said in response "Why would I share a room with someone that I don't like?" Bella was very offended by this and so was I.

Phil played peacemaker and we reluctantly let it go. Now Alexis shares the bigger room with Isaac and Becca while Bella is in the smaller room.

The next thing that happened was that she gave the twins nicknames since they apparently hated their names. She called Isaac 'Zack' to purposely take off the Is in his name that both he and Bella shared and then she called Rebecca 'Ruby' because her favorite color is red.

I found these nicknames atrocious and demanded that she call them by the names that I gave them when I gave birth to them. She ignored me and asked my children what they would preferred to be called.

They said that they liked the nicknames she gave them "Then that's what I'll call you" she had said.

I also reluctantly let this go as well. But this last event was the final straw.....

Alexis would occasionally take Becca out for a girls day. They of course would exclude Bella who pretended not to be hurt by this and would lock herself up in her room. The last time they went out, they apparently decided to do full makeovers.

They both went to the spa and salon where they had their nails done and haircuts. Alexis had gotten bangs and a professional purple shampoo bath for her blonde hair which was okay, but she had let Becca pick out a haircut.

Becca had picked out a spiky, messy pixie cut that made her look like a boy! To top it all off they had gone to a tattoo parlor and gotten their ears pierced making them look like whores!

I had enough and demanded that Alexis get out of my house. I told her to go live with her mother instead, only to be told that Alexis's mother had passed away from cancer five years ago, something that I had no knowledge of prior despite Phil claiming that he told me this.

Alexis ran to her room crying and Isaac and Becca called me an asshole before joining her in their room to comfort her.

This was the first time that Phil chose a side and sided with Alexis, he says that I didn't make Alexis feel comfortable in her home and was forcing her to conform to a role that wasn't who she was. He, my twins, and my ex husband all agree that I was a jerk to Alexis. The only one on my side is Bella.

Was I in the wrong for trying to blend our families?
