*RING RING RING* "Ughh" I groan and turn off my alarm. I sigh and sit up, it's six in the morning and school starts at 8:15, I get up and stop when I realize that I'm not alone in the room. I look and see Ryder on the recliner, in the corner and Parker is laying on the bed. "What" I whisper confused, I shake my head making sure I'm not just going crazy.
Sure enough, they are still there, I walk over to Ryder and shake him "Ryder. Ryder" I whisper shaking him "Hmm. Adenna," he asks, "Hey bud go lay on the bed" I whisper lifting him and he sleepily walks to the bed and lays down. I walk downstairs and start making some breakfast, then once that is done it's 6:40 so I serve Amy and leave it by her door along with some water. I then go and get dressed and do my hair, making sure I take my medicine and throw up for the first time today. By the time I'm done it's 7:10 so I go back to the room and wake up the boys, "Hey you two come on go get dressed and come downstairs for breakfast" I say and they both groan and get up.
"And don't forget to clean your faces," I say and they both nod walking down the hall. I grab my backpack from the foot of the bed and notice something under the bed. I get down and check what it is and it's just a shoe box I sigh hoping it was something useful. I get back up and go downstairs. After a few minutes, both of them come downstairs, dressed with their backpacks, we start eating "Hey so I was thinking maybe I could move in one of your mattresses so you two could take the bed" I say and they both look at each other.
"Maybe we could all set up camp in the living room," Ryder asks and I tilt my head confused. "Um, could you elaborate," I ask "Uh yeah. You see I could take the couch and all that we'd have to bring down is Dante's mattress and if we move the coffee table we could all lay down here so we wouldn't have to be apart," he says and I nod "That's a pretty good idea Ryder," I say and he looks happy "Okay when we get back from school we'll do that," I say and they both nod with a small smile. Once we finish breakfast I have them go brush their teeth and I wash and clean up the kitchen and living room.
"Okay, you two it's 8:00 time to go," I say and they come rushing downstairs, and out the door. "Now remember people will stare and come up to you but it's okay. Check-in on each other throughout the day. I like to call them mental health check ups" I say and they both nod getting in the back. "Okay here out these in your phone and text your name to me. For emergencies call me do you understand" I say handing them a piece of paper with my number on it. "Umm...." Parker pauses looking at the paper, "What's wrong" I ask "Umm...he used to pay for our phones, and...they're off right now" Ryder says handing me the paper.
"Hmm okay. I'll see what I can do" I say and they both nod. I back out of the driveway and drop them off at school with five minutes to spare. "Okay now remember during lunch stay by the car until I get there," I say and they both nod and look around people are already looking at them and whispering "Hey. If you need me just go to the office and ask them to call me" I say and they both nod and run off inside the building. I drive across the road and park my car, I take a deep breath and get out of the car. I walk to my first class but not before going to the bathroom and throwing up, I sit down being the first one in there.
"Hello, miss Rose early as always," my Art teacher Mr.Robin says writing on the board "Yes sir. You know the crowds aren't for me lately" I say and sit down, Mr. Robin is the only teacher that hasn't treated me differently and looks at me with pity. He still pushes me to do my best, but not too hard. "If you'd like you can get started on today's assignment," he says pointing to the other side of the board with the instructions. "Thank you" I nod and get my stuff out, before I start I decide to shoot DJ a text.
Me- Hey I'll be heading over there around 12:30, could you do me a favor?
Dj- okay, what's up
Me- Dante used to pay for the boy's phone and now I need to stay in touch with them. Could you get me two burners
DJ- Okay I'll see what I can do. Just call when you're coming
I put my music on and my phone away, and I go through my day how I've usually been, keeping my head down and my headphones in rushing to the bathroom during passing period. Throwing up and then snack on some crackers, and before I know it it's already lunchtime I quickly walk outside, to my car and see the boys waiting there and then some guys next to them. "Hey" I bark noticing that the guys are my age "Can I help you with something," I ask stepping in front of the boys "Oh if it isn't Miss Adenna Rose. We have no problem just...having a little chat with these middle schoolers," he says looking at them, "Nothing that concerns you," he says looking down at me.
"Parker and Ryder in the car" I demand and hear them quickly get inside, "They are my concern, and if I ever see you messing with them again. You will live to regret it. Now get the hell away from my car" I growl, and they roll their eyes and leave. I quickly start the car and zoom off, "Are you two okay" I ask keeping my eyes on the road "Yes. They just didn't want us there" Ryder says looking out of the window "Fucking assholes" I growl and grip the wheel
