"flomped is not a word, now I'm depressed." Is the first thing Kai heard from his boss on the wet Thursday afternoon as soon as she came out of her office.
"R-right." He stuttered out in confusion, "And how did you find this out?"
"Apollo and his stupid English degree." She muttered, Kai barely heard her words.
"Damn that sucks," Kai's voice had no obvious emotion in it as he spoke, "but, it also sounds like a you problem."
"Why would you say that to someone who can fire you on the spot?"
Kai's voice didn't change from a monotone tone as he said, "If you can nudge me when someone says 'I'm going for a fag' and suggest he wants to fuck me then I can say that your issue with the English language is a you problem."
"I swear, you and Apollo, both of you are like brothers."
"I'm taking that as a personal insult."

Anastasia had walked up to Kai while he was getting something to eat after his shift, his hair wet after a shower.
"Kai?" Anastasia asked, her hands clasped together in front of her, she had surprised him, so he jumped, "Sorry to scare you, can we talk? I swear it'll be quick."
Kai composed himself, biting an apple, "Um... sure?..."
"I just want to sincerely apologise for all the comments I've made, I'm really bad at things like that, and I want to be better, I don't want us to be on the outs."
Anastasia had made comment after comment about Kai, mostly sexual, which had made him extremely uncomfortable.
"Especially since you're with my best friend?"
Anastasia looked shocked for a second, "Right. Yeah!"
"Yeah... I need a minute to think about it, can you let me get back to you?..." He was still suspicious of her and her intentions.
The Russian girl smiled brightly, no matter what, Kai could never say that Anastasia's smile didn't brighten the entire room up, "Yeah, sure, of course, take all the time you need."
She walked away, leaving Kai standing there for a moment, totally confused, "O-okayyyyy..."
He stood there for a minute longer before his knees buckled and he lost his balance, a warning from his dizziness, "Food." He agreed with himself.
He forgot about his conversation as he made himself something to eat, snacking on tiny cucumbers while it cooked.
"You are so confusing..."
Clam's voice made him jump, "You and your girlfriend need to stop scaring me."
"Sorry, I just, can we talk?"
Kai gasped loudly, "A-are you breaking up with me!?"
"No but I'm going to stay at 'stasie's place more, leaving you here, alone."
Kai's sarcastic smile dropped as he looked down, putting on a brave face, "Oh, okay, enjoy!"
"Are you okay with that? If you don't want me to leave-"
"If I don't want you to leave you would go anyway, just sigh a lot. Just go for fucks sake."
Clam sighed, "Fine!"
"Fine!"
Clam stormed out of the flat, slamming the door shut, Kai going to his phone, calling Amara, "Kai? What's up?"
"She just left, she might as well just live with her, and honestly, the whole 'I'm so sorry for all the things I said' act is such bullshit."
Amara sat there on the other end, Apollo on his phone, his head on Amara's lap, his smile dropped as they both looked at each other at the same time, confused, "Kai, you need to calm down and explain things from the beginning."
Her voice was calm and her words slow, as if she was talking to a child.
"Clam, the little bitch, keeps coming up to me, saying that she's spending more time with 'Stasie!'" He mocked, "She is a full grown adult, she does not need to come running to me whenever she wants to spend more time with her, and Anastasia, she came up to me, right?"
"Yeah?" Amara lightly pressured him, trying to get him to explain the rant.
"She came up to me, scared me so much, I lost like twenty years off of my life, 'apologised' then left, also her smile? How does her smile brighten up a room?! She's a bitch and the Gods provided her with a good smile?! How does that work?!"
"Maybe you're in love with her?" Apollo joked, making Kai scoff, "I don't know where you live but I will find out and send you a very mean worded letter."
"Oh no, not communication- ouch." Apollo started in a sarcastic tone, then Amara pinched him on the neck.
"Kai, why'd you call? Do you want to be alone tonight? Or do you want to be with people?"
"I mean I could probably be alone, but it's my anniversary..."
Amara looked down at Apollo, who sighed, nodding.
"We'll come get you, you'll stay here, with us."
"Really? You don't hav-"
"Shut up and take the free company."
Kai was silent for a moment, before his barely audible voice came through, "... Thank you..."
Amara smiled, "Don't worry about it, this is what friends do."
Kai hung up the phone with a smile, texting Amara his address. The redhead took no time to get him, they drove back to her shared flat with Apollo, they stayed up talking most of the night, Amara fell asleep first, Apollo pulling her glasses off to place them somewhere safe, they fell into a comfortable silence, Kai sitting on his phone, Apollo on his.
"You said it was your anniversary, what anniversary?"
"My fourteen year dizziness anniversary..." Was his quiet response, Apollo noticed that it was a sore subject for him and didn't mention it again, yet he made a mental note about the fifteenth of September.
Neither Apollo or Kai fell asleep, Apollo was too nervous to go to sleep until Kai did and Kai didn't fall asleep.
