Alone

Chapter Seven

Kai and Amara were standing outside his flats' door, Kai had mascara down his face and his lipstick was smudged and mostly bitten off from him nervously biting on his lip. He was also fidgeting with one of his mushroom earrings.

They could both hear Anastasia and Clam inside laughing, Kai lifted the hood on his jumper over his head, so that no one could see his state. Amara and Kai had decided, they would both go in, grab whatever was needed and leave, they weren't going to talk to the couple inside. 

Kai unlocked the door and walked in, not even waiting a minute for them to notice him as he swiftly made his way to his bedroom door and Amara followed behind him. As soon as they both were in his room, Kai engaged the lock he had on his door. 

Kai turned the light on and Amara glanced around his room, he had a small desk with a desk chair, he had a pen set and a colouring book on the desk, he had photo's on the wall, mostly drawings Clam had drawn, He also had a bookshelf which was almost full of books, he had a double bed with a very tall bed frame, it was almost the same height of Kai. The bed had a black laptop on the top of it, Amara sat on the bed, his walls were a very basic white. His wardrobe was filled with all matter of black coloured clothes, he also had a few cups lying around. 

"Cool room! You and Apollo are almost the same people, I swear!" Amara joked, Kai smiled, and started putting things into a black bag, "Is that a good thing?" Kai asked, and Amara 'hmm'ed before nodding with a smile on her face, "Is it just you and Clam?" "No, I have two other friends, Raven and Max, wonderful people, but they have their own friend group from Uni, but we are still friends, don't tell anyone I told you, but they have a crush on this guy from the friend group, never shut up about him, both of them. Always talking about how cute he is, wishing he liked one of them back, it's really sad." 

Amara laughed, "People who can fall in romantic love are so funny!" 

"Can you grab my laptop there?" "Yeah sure!" Amara gave his laptop over, including the charger,  Is that everything?"  

"Mhmmm!" Kai nodded, as he started quickly taking his makeup off. 

Again, both of them left, walking past Anastasia and Clam and out the door toward Amara's flat.

They listened to music on the way before Apollo called Amara, Kai looked at the phone and the name, 'weird allo'.

Amara answered, "Hey Apollo! What's up?" "You. Didn't you ask me to call you when I had a spare minute?" His voice came through the shared headphones. Amara 'ahh'ed as she remembered, "Well Kai sort of had a very bad day, I'll tell you later, but he's staying over at ours, are you okay with that?" "Yeah of course!" 

"Fit." "I'll be back home in like a couple of hours, don't do anything illegal or something." "Bye!"

Amara pushed the door open to her flat and allowed Kai in, and then they both took their boots off and Kai followed Amara into her room, "Why is your room so much prettier than mine!" Kai fake sobbed, Amara laughed, "Please, I still have stuff to buy!"

Amara's room was filled with fairy lights and those fake vines, her walls were a light green, and she had a double bed in the middle and a paper filled desk. Kai sat on her bed as Amara shut the door. 

"Okay, important, I need new fan fiction recommendations!" Amara said with a sparkle in her eye, "I already have one." Kai said, and Amara clapped her hands happily. "Let's go make hot chocolate before we do anything!" 

"Yes."

Kai shut his laptop as he and Amara sat in shock. They had just finished the fan fiction Kai was going to recommend the Aro Ace girl. 

Amara spoke first, "Holy hell. That was emotional." 

Kai could only reply, "Yeah...."

It had taken the two a while to recover, but when they did, they had a fresh cup of hot chocolate, and they were sitting down on Amara's bed. 

"Okay, first, tell me how you met everyone!" Amara said, and Kai started from the beginning.

"I met Raven and Max when we were little, Primary School age, we were best friends, we barely had any fights, most of our fights were who the dog was going to be and those were just quick fights, we were friends the entire way through Primary, and then high school, S1, Clam was in most of my classes, and I was with Raven and Max. Clam and I were friends by S2." 

"Awww, that's so sweet!" Amara said. Kai nodded.

"Then it hit." Amara cocked her head to the side, Kai continued, "I got really dizzy. Pretty quickly I couldn't go to school, but I had Max and Raven and now Clam, they were so supportive, even when I didn't think I could leave the same time as them. We just clicked, you know. And then to say where I could be partly fixed we jumped at the chance, Now I'm only dizzy when I'm really busy, and those days are mostly Friday's, so I can relax on the weekend. But I completely changed, from a sweet, smart, girl to a low-key depressed, behind on his work, boy. Music and fan fiction became my life. I loved Acting, I knew I always wanted to act. So I kind of took my chance when I was first not dizzy to audition for a play, I didn't get it, and I was so upset, my parents wanted me to give up. I told them that I would never quit, I didn't quit for those four years, so I'm not stopping because I don't like being told no." 

Amara now had a small smile on her lips as her eyes shone with tears and admiration. 

"Now I refuse to give up." Kai had tears falling down his cheeks. He wiped them away with his hand.

"We all went to University. Raven always wanted to be a lawyer, so now he's trying to get into Law School, Max always wanted to own a small business, so she's taking a business class, and Clam wants to be a Professional Artist. She's taking an art class, that's where she met Anastasia, her girlfriend, they were adorable in the beginning, I would be 'aww'ing at them whenever I saw them. But as time went by, every time Clam and I would think of going somewhere, Anastasia told her that she wouldn't want to leave her girlfriend out. They made it into a date. And I can't go because it's a date. So I stayed home. Then Raven and Max found a friend-group without us, which is fine, but I barely see them any more, and I'm just alone." 

Amara opened her arms and pulled him into a hug. 

"They were like my family." Kai mumbled against the Amara's shoulder, they pulled apart and Amara told him, "Well now we're a family, you, Apollo, Dabria- when we get them together-" Kai laughed, "And me, we're not going to leave you behind. I pinky promise!" Amara took her pinky finger out and Kai laced his pinky with hers. 

The door opened, it was Apollo, "Hello?" He asked. Amara unlaced their pinky's and replied, "In here!" 

"Oh, hi Kai!" "That rhymed!" Kai joked and everyone in the room laughed. 

"What happened here?" Kai looked around the room, there were tissue's from earlier when they were reading fan fiction. 

"Umm..... We were reading fan fiction...." Kai put his hands up in surrender when Apollo gave him a hard look. "I told her it was sad, she told me to 'shut up and read the fan fiction.'"

"I did." Amara revealed. Apollo shook his head. 

"Hey, you wanna change and read fan fiction with us!" Amara asked. 

"Of course!" 

Apollo then went to change into something comfy and the new family spent all night reading, crying and laughing at fan fiction. 

It was very early when the three fell asleep. Amara's head was on Apollo's shoulder, and Kai's head was on Amara's lap. 

'Maybe.' Kai thought, 'Maybe, I won't be alone.'
