Alone

Chapter Nineteen

Kai and Apollo were currently in America, trying to do this scene where the sidekick (Apollo) grabbed the hero turned villain (Kai) by the throat and pushing him against the wall. 

Only it was two in the morning, and they had both had a very difficult day. Apollo had his hand loosely around Kai's neck and was pressing Kai up against the wall while the camera recorded the scene, Kai was groaning with fake pain when Apollo went to whisper his line in Kai's ear when Kai broke character, bursting out in laughter.

"I'm sorry, I can't!" Kai exclaimed, Apollo let go of his neck and stepped back, letting Kai laugh it out. 

"Alright, you good?" Apollo asked, Kai nodded, then they tried the scene again.

When they finally got enough shots of the scene, the director decided that it was time for everyone to leave and get some sleep. 

Kai decided that he wasn't going to sleep, the nightmares about the dead bodies of his friends would hit too close to home at the moment. So instead, he made some hot chocolate and read some fan-fiction and talked to Amara.

When Apollo woke up, Kai was in sitting on one of the chairs in the kitchen, eating cookies with some hot chocolate, Kai lied and told him he woke up a half hour before him, making up some story from one of his nightmares from high school, explaining it in vivid detail to Apollo to make him believe it. 

"And then Clam found me and smashed my head through the window."

Apollo, sadly, believed the flat out lie, which made Kai do a little happy dance in his head. 

"Oh, hey, I found this nice café in town. We should go for lunch!" Kai told Apollo when he came out of his room after his call with Dabria. 

"Yeah, sure." Apollo was clearly still very sleep-deprived, "Wait, wouldn't we be cheating on Amara, you know, eating at a different one." 

Kai thought for a moment, "I mean, does she really have to know? Does she expect us to go away and not go out?" 

"Yeah that's true." Apollo said, attempting to steal a cookie from Kai's plate, Kai was faster and slapped his hand away, "Hey!" 

"Fuck off. My cookies." 

"But I want one." Apollo whined. Kai motioned to the cupboard where they kept the cookies, "But these are right here, why should I go over there when what I want is with you?" 

"Because you're going to have to replace the cookie on the plate. It's better if you get your own than having to get past me and then having to go in there to get more anyway." 

Apollo groaned, but went to get a cookie from the cupboard.

Kai and Apollo were sitting outside this small café, drinking coffee, well Apollo was drinking coffee, Kai was told by his doctor that he, for the second time in his life, wasn't allowed coffee, because of his dizziness. Kai decided to take a photo and post it on Instagram, he noticed that Amara commented, but ignored it and continued on. 

They had lunch and then left. 

Kai was planning to call Amara while Apollo was away for the day, but Amara cancelled, saying she was tired. 

Amara then called him a few days later, very early in the morning, not that he was asleep anyway, laughing about something that she saw, Kai was confused, he hadn't seen anything. 

"Hey, you asleep?" Amara asked, Kai turned back to his laptop.

"No." Then, "If you tell Apollo, I will be thrown out the window."
