(Demi's pov)
"yeah. I just got a call from another bill collector joe." I said. he's been in Michigan for 5 months. that's 5 months to miss your son. 5 months bills haven't been paid. 5 months I've been on my own. "we're about to lose the apartment Joseph." I said.

he tried to say something and then Tristan interrupted and started crying. "hold on. Tristan is crying." I said.

"actually dem, I gotta go." he said. he's apparently been helping on some farm. is that farm giving him a pay check? he won't tell me anything. not a damn thing.

he hung up the phone and I rocked Tristan back to sleep. I tried calling joe again.

he finally called back 3 hours.

"I need to talk to you." I said in a serious tone.

"about what?" he asked.

"look, i know that the army changes you. but do you understand that i need you? what happened to just being in th army to pay for art school? what happened to the guy i fell in love with? I married you to be with you. I've been put through hell these past 2 years. and I'm trying to get through the next 4, raise our son, have a job, and keep all the bills paid. you have 4 more years of going off to leave us. it's hard being the mom and dad. so the least you could do is just be here to help while your home instead of going off on road trips and vacations." I bitched.

"Demi, I'm sorry. I told you, I'll explains everything when I get back." joe told me, as he did many many times before.

"joe, I need you home now. you have other things you need to do. priorities. when was the last time you saw your son? he was a month old. he's 6 months old now. Face timing us isn't being there. I need you." i said.

"just a little bit longer and I'll be home Demi." he said. "I promise."

"you know what. i hope you mean that. because if you wait to long, you might come home. and I'll be gone." I said and hung up before giving him a chance to answer.

I immediently dialed Selena. "can you watch Tristan tonight? i need to get out." I said. "yes." she answered.
