chapter 6

(Demi's pov)

I started at my audience, it was a group of 28 people to be exact, not counting my boss & employees. I've been singing in a coffee shop, just to get by. my dad says I have no chance, but I know I can do it. all I have to do, is wait for the right person to walk through that door and make all my dreams come true.

I walked into my apartment and went straight to the mailboxes. it's become a normal routine. day 43 without joe, but I can always have him with me in his letters. I grabbed my letter labeled 'dems' and shut my mailbox and ran up to my door.

I slammed the door shut and hurried to my couch ripping open the letter. 'dear dems,' I could almost hear the words coming out of his mouth. 'I miss your beautiful face so much. sometimes I see your face in the desert of Iraq. I think it's just a mirage. damn sun playin tricks like that.' this made me laugh.

'I can imagine that just made u laugh.' that's crazy. how did he know? 'my god, I miss your laugh so much Demi. let's pray this month goes by fast so I can just hug u and hold u. and never ever let you go!' I smiled at the though of that. 'well anyways, I love you baby. love, joe'

I closed the letter and hurried back to my room and pulled out a shoe box. it had all 42, now 43 letter in it. I shoved I back into my closet and went to get a pen and pencil. I better hurry and take this to the post office if I want today's letter to get to him tomorrow.

my phone began to ring loudly. I look up from the paper and answered it putting it on speaker so I could still write. "hello?" I asked. "hey dems." it was my best friend Selena's voice. "hey sel." I said not looking up from the paper.

"you down to get Starbucks later? it's been a while since I've seen you." she said. "umm. how bout at 3 later. I've gotta run to the post office." I said. "okay. see ya then." she said then hung up. I locked my screen. it really irritated me when people interupted my letters.
