(Demi's pov)
I guess in some light, I wanted Joe to find me. That's why I'd came to the most predictable place in the world for him to look.I'd put all of our stuff in storage. And I came to Selena's house. I really just planned on staying here until he found me. That's what I kept telling myself anyways.
I'm not sure when that would be. But that's what keeps me going is thinking he'll find me.
A thousand times I've thought about ripping that letter up and just coming home. Putting our stuff back in the apartment. But I don't.
I've been at Selena's for about a day and it's not so bad. She's a big help. She really is.
There was a knock on the door and Selena got up to answer it. I held Tristan as he sucked on his bottle of milk. He's getting to be such a big boy, eating real milk. & not just baby formula.
"Dem." Selena said. "It's uh, for you." she said as she ran to her room. I got up and went to the door and there he was.
"I need to talk to you." Joe said.
I stepped aside and let him in. I knew he'd come. Just quicker than I expected.
"I'm sorry Demi. For everything. I don't want us to go down the toilet though. I just need to be with you. I should've never left." he begged.
That was all I wanted. That and one other thing. "Why did you leave me?" I asked.
He took a deep breath.
"The first time I was in Afgan. I was really close with this guy Corey. He was just telling me the day before the explosion how he missed his son's birth. And he wouldn't get to met him until about 2 months after he was born.
Right when the explosion happened. I laid beside him on his death bed." Joe got teary eyed. "he gave me a name, city, state, and a job. He told me to go to Alyssa, his wife, in Grand Rapids, Michigan and tell her he loved her. And help out as much as I can.
So that's what I did. I helped her farm and made things easier on her. I thought it was right but I ruined our family trying to fix someone else's."
I wiped joes tear away with my thumb. "I love you so much Joe Jonas." I told him. "I'm sorry I was such a brat about this.
He shook his head and kissed my forehead. "I'm sorry."
"Don't be. I need to take care of you and Tristan." he said. he looked down at Tristan in my lap. "can I?" he asked.
"of course." I said with a smile as he picked our son up out of his arms.

And I'd like to tell you things went back to normal after that. But they didn't. They were better.Over the next 4 years we paid all our debt. We ditched the apartment and bought a house in Grand Rapids. Me and Alyssa became good friends.
Joe still had to go back to the army. He left once a year for 6 months. And the last time he came home was for good.
He ended up going to art school. He started selling his art. His favorite thing to sketch and paint is Tristan. He's basically documented him as he grew.
Me, I never became a singer. My dreams of becoming a wife and mother were more important to me and I love it how it is.
I did write a book on my life with Joe, encouraging spouses of an army man to hold on.
Tristan, became the oldest of 5 children. Faith, Joel, Scarlet, & Kyle were all born after him.
Tristan is now 18, Faith is 15. Joel is 12. & Scarlet and Kyle (the twins) are 3.
I'm old now. The big 37.
Life is a roller coaster. And I'm glad I was on it though.
